Ok that's your opinion. If they pay him more than that, then what happens? If he plays well nobody cares. If he doesn't then everyone cares and will also use his salary as some barometer. It's kinda like Moody being drafted in the 3rd. Nobody would care if he was good etc.
it's a capped sport, so the more they pay brock, the less they can land FAs or extend other guys. from a logic standpoint, no need to bid against ourselves.
overall, you are right. i'm not too worried about the deal. deals aren't fully gtd, and backloaded with outs. for example, cousins signed a 4 year deal, it lasted like 2 months and benched and he will be cut i imagine or traded. so either he plays ball or is gone. expectations will be higher when pay is higher. i think a lot of the appeal of brock is he's QB1 at 900k.
Yeah I hear you. That's why I said ditch the cap in another thread lol
Quick analysis: (imo of course lol)
bosa - Fair deal.
Kittle - Underpaid at this point imo
Warner - a little underpaid?
Deebo and ba and tw - overpaid.
hargrave - Ooof
if Brock gets 40 or 55. I get it but I think it'll be a very fair market deal where Brock makes his money but the team can maneuver.
Those last three contracts will probably hurt more.
