QB Brock Purdy Thread

Though most people would disagree, the most enlightened way to go with Brock is make him play through the final year of his contract without an extension with everyone healthy around him to make it a prove himself year.

Yes Brock has had one "elite" year out of 3 atm.

Are we going to sign our future to that?

That's probably the ideal scenerio, but they're probably scared he has a good year and it's going to cost them even more. Choices, choices, choices.

his first year was elite for a rookie.

He's had 1 avg year out of 3.

Technically true, but Eli beat Brady twice.

That defense beat Brady. If mario manningham or David Tyree don't make ridiculous catches he's not a SB winning QB

You can't frame history preferentially. Eli made incredible clutch plays in those SB's. It's a team sport but if Eli doesn't show up they don't win.

My biggest question is did Purdy regress becuse the entire team was simply down and hurt this year or it is Kyle. We will know next year.

Regardless of that. I think the deal will be more than most want, but probably not terrible and will still allow them to build around him. I don't think Purdy cares to be the highest paid etc, but I'm sure the NFLPA is all over him and his agent.

The issue the front office has is the fans and Purdy want a deal done fast, so imo any delay would be on them.

The team was 4th in Total Offense, thanks to the passing game.

We had 2 backs that averaged over 5 ypc, and we were 14th in scoring offense....so nowhere around even the top 3rd of the league.

Average scoring and too many INTs given the limited production.

"...but but but we were 4th in Total Offense."

Shanahan has pretty much always had good run game production, regardless of the level of QB he's had. Even your boy Jimmy had Mostert running wild one year.

You may or may not have heard this B4, but the run game sets up the play action passing game. If you don't believe it, just ask Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson...

What I need to know is -- given the above -- how does our latest QB simply get all of the credit for the run game's efficiency? Simply because you like him?

Is that the full thought process?

Nah, I said he put up elite numbers in 2023.

He did.

So because he had one elite level season he should be paid like an elite level QB? Like I said who in the league is gonna drop that kind of cash for Brock? You say the market is the market….well who else is doing it?

See once you start throwing Dak and Herbert in his agent can make a legit case. Then there's all the other guys like Love and Trevor too. Yea he should get paid in that range

Dak and Herbert have multiple seasons putting up numbers like Brock did once. Dak was 2nd in MVP voting the yr he was up for an extension.

Lawrence put up multiple seasons of 4K 20+ TDs. They're also a horribly run organization. So let's do what they do? Should we pay Jennings $72M because they paid Christian Kirk that? Should we pay Jalen Moore $40M because they paid Walker Little that?

His 3rd year starting. The season before that he was an all pro and OPOY finalist.

NY didn't even reference numbers, he talked his actual abilities. Why do you do this? Lol

Dude just deflects. There isn't real football talk going on there most times

I don't care to read, but what you presented can be interpreted the way I said it. Like I said it's semantics, and I'm more focused on the original point anyways. Nobody is going around saying Brock is elite

We all know you don't care to read. That much is clear. If you interpret that the earth is flat, that doesn't mean the earth is flat.
