Just curious...why does that bother you?

Because, he thinks only certain people should have all the fun.

The NFL is riding high right now but success doesn't last forever. Other sports that once were popular have faded. We've seen major companies fold because they weren't run properly. It can happen to the NFL if they aren't careful. Many of the fans on this forum ar eprobably under 50 or even 40. For them the NFL has always ruled. I can remember when they didn't rule. College football was more popular and so was baseball.

Pete Roselle was largely responsible for the growth of the NFL. Now I see crazy rules being instituted and cash being thrown around like it's monopoly money. The league needs to take a step back and look at the future a little more instead of basking in the glow of today.

Success doesn't last forever? The NFL has been the country's most popular sport since the 70s.

If your concern is that the NFL will lose popularity in the time frame that Brock's contract will cover, that might be the silliest concern I have read so far.

Every QB in the NFL can do this

But he's not tall so

Backup QB's do this regularly

guys stop posting highlights. his value keeps going up. we need to keep it down.

thank you. all this he's > brees isn't helping. understand the moment you are in. this is contract time. it's like when you buy a car. no one shows up to the car lot and says wow this is the GOAT car of all time, i'll pay above asking. you look for defects that's what you do when it's time to buy, now is your time to do that. once the contract is signed it's a done deal.

I'm not just worried about Brock's contract. Fans are as guilty as some owners. They can't see past next season. The top paid players have been steadily taking up a bigger share of the cap. The other 43 guys are starting to get a little envious. We're seeing more DBs and backups asking for more money and teams can't pay. The result is they move on. Most aren't starters but they make up the bulk of the team that provides depth. Some are special teams contributors that want a chance to start. Look at the 49er D line and the turnover we've had.

I'm not going to get the NFL to change their ways and most fans don't care as long as their favorite player is still on the team. I'm just voicing an opinion about the direction the league is heading. The owners will continue to seek more revenue to cover those big salaries so expect more playoff games to be streamed in the future. Higher ticket prices. Higher everything. In the end the fans will always pay one way or another.

Baker has bounced around some and played 8 years in the league. He is what he is. Brock has 2 full seasons. Hes young. Young QBs that have earned an extension with their franchise do not get Baker deals dude

Baker had like 7 HCs and 8 OCs in 8yrs. Brock got put into one of the best positions a QB can be put into.

Earned and extension doesn't mean you're earned to be one or the highest paid players in the NFL, especially when it hasn't all been great football.

He wouldn't have earn it? Yeah, he would have - hate the game not the player.

How about Goff, Tua, Love or Lawrence money?

I've said the love deal is probably the closest thing to comparable imo. Not a ton of experience with ups and downs. The difference between all those guys and Brock is they were all getting paid coming off one of their best seasons.

I mean let's use another player….how about BA. If he was headed into a contract yr this offseason, played all yr and wasn't playing great overall football (avg play) would we still be forced to have to making him one of the highest paid WRs in football?

i think he earned real coin. 900k isn't real coin. he gets out earned by the long snapper. i think if he got 200mil over 5, that would be real coin. he'd be a made man, set for life.

Got 3 guys that can make a case for it always being great football when they signed. Everyone else had warts and a lot still do.

It's about finding the proper balance.
