It's all talk anyways. He has no clue what he would get on the open market. Just like he had no clue whether Brock could make it back week 1 from his elbow injury. He's just going to take the negative side on Brock without really knowing what he's talking about

I don't think it's negative to guess Brock wouldn't get a top tier deal in the market. You're right though, we don't know. That works both ways when we talk about his market value… we don't know what it actually is. We know what similarly comped players were paid by their teams (in most cases).

Did you see the spotrac algorithm?

Yea I saw it, but I don't see why it's important.

It's based on the market

It's based on those player comps. Almost all of whom didn't test the market (at least publicly).

Well that's what he's worth based on player comps then. Pay the man

What he's worth is what teams would pay him on the open market. Again, nearly every comp didn't test the market.

I mean our owner and FO have done it twice (that we know of). I'm not saying it will happen or Brock isn't gonna get a fluffed up contract either.

Give me a realistic team that would fork over $260M for Brock this off season? You can't go on about the market setting this price and then say we can't let the market dictate his worth.

no I'm being objective about this topic. It's something you've had a hard time grasping for a while now…if Brock balled out this yr no one would be having this conversation.

hear hear. you are over the target and ppl want to give you a hard time cuz they are brock fans, and it's great to be a brock fan i don't knock that but it's another thing to be objective. you make deals with your head not your heart.

It's a dumb question. We'd have to be in the buildings to know who'd be interested

and you know he's not going to hit the market. You know you won't have to answer for being wrong again. Get out of here with this s**t

It's only a dumb question because you know the answer lol.

If Brock and his agent went to John and said I want the same or more than this…

You expect them to bend over and take it? Why? If BA had the season he just did (or played and played below avg) then he came to the table and said I want JJ's contract…SF is just gonna say yup sure why not…you had one amazing season back in 2023? GTFO.

they'd say okay see if you and your agent can find someone willing to pay you that and give proper trade compensation. Let the MARKET show your worth… If everyone thinks he's worth that, then teams would be lining up to trade and pay him. You damn well know that's not what would happen.

again I'm not saying this is gonna happen. I want to make that clear because you will come back and try to pretend I said this is what will happen.

I'm saying they should do that if he's coming in looking for that kind of cash.

That's what you want him to be worth. Not how it works though

I don't know the answer. Neither do you. The only thing I know for sure is he would get more than you think he would on the open market

yeah it's just a bad take.. told NY a while back as he keeps trying to use this as something.

No one was offering Dak money.. for Dak to get that money he ended up signing for

The ravens did it with Lamar. We've done it multiple times. BA this off season and buck.

reports were LV was lining up to pay Dak if he wasn't gonna get signed.
No teams offered Jackson anything, does that mean he's worth nothing? and he was on a NE tag, which he ended up signing for way more.

BA was a trade, buck was a trade.. which is different

LV is interested in everyone, but intererst doesn't equal paying him what Dak got

It's not. It's pointless. It's based of age/contract status/stats.

lol love now how you contradicted yourself there

Man you're struggling. I don't know what he's worth. I'm skeptical (not sure) that he would get a top tier deal. I'd like the team to try and find out instead of negotiate against themselves and against player comps who also didn't test the market.

Has this model worked for other teams?
