Uh, yes he is a free agent after this season. He did not sign a 5 year deal. No rookies sign 5 year deals.

I guess his salary went up because of the Pro Bowl selection. I was looking at sportrac's figures.

BA was trying to get paid top WR money, reset the market. If Purdy demands that then sure I'd be with you to say "go find it." If he's demanding $65M per season and having his fiancé tweet stupid s**t about the team, then sure, I'm with you guys.

But you're wanting to offer Purdy mid-level money, and not even thinking that he's worth $50m+ the same as Love, Herbert, Tua, etc. That's the issue we're all having with your argument. It's simply not based in reality. It's like you guys think you're playing Madden and you're totally ignoring the human element of this process.

Why are fans so concerned with trying to save $10-$20 million per year? What is it that you think that nets you?

To give you an idea, Laken Tomlinson's contract with the Jets was $12 million per year.

Who gives a s**t?

Remember, it'll be worth even less as inflation continues.

Lol. This is a multibillion dollar business where people's jobs depend on their decision making. It would be ludicrous to not use every tool available to them to make the best possible decisions at the cheapest potential cost to the team.

Of course they're better. They're taller and can throw farther. Bigger hands. All that. You know, the stuff that wins championships. Take that $60M and instead of giving it to Purdy, split it up equally amongst Fields, Trey, Jones, etc. That QB room would be DEEP. Whoever has the best training camp starts. The rest keep competing for the backup spot. We'll have each of them play 3-4 games to showcase themselves, and build their value. It won't matter who the QB is because Kyle makes every QB a star.

By season's end we can trade all of them for 1st round picks, and then start over with next season's group of free agent QB's. We'll be like a junior college who manufactures D1 scholarships, except with us we'll stockpile picks. Super Bowl wins in the process because it doesn't matter who the QB is. Use the 1st round picks to draft nothing but all pros at every position. We'll never have to pay anyone top dollar (they're not worth that anyway). I mean they're used to playing in college and getting a little bit of NIL money, so anything we give them will make them rich. Shoot, the average fan only makes $50k or so a year, so they should feel lucky to even make league minimum.
