In a reply to you I described playing 'hardball' as a gamble. That should have been a clear indication of the belief that Purdy has leverage, let alone the fact at no point did I ever say, or indicate, that he didn't.*

I added little. Perhaps I'm wrong and you think Purdy does indeed have leverage. If that's the case then why would you think playing hardball would work?

I'm picturing Purdy's agent printing out Spotrac's projection and slamming it down on a desk in front of Paraag, lol.

i don't think purdy has much leverage. what's he gonna do, pull a leveon bell? i don't see it.

he wants to get in and play ball. offer the 200m over 5, he will accept and it's a win for both. from 900k to 40,000,000 annual, that's how you know you made it. if you type out all the zeroes, it look bigger.

Okay so he's not going to accept that, because it's well below QB's who he's much better than. So what is your plan at QB when Purdy holds out? Which FA are you bringing in and/or who are you drafting to replace Purdy?
We don't want to be caught with a long-term contract for a player who is regressing each year since his 1 Superbowl appearance..

While playing clips of Love, Herbert, and Darnold from this weekend.

He doesn't have as much leverage as you think. Brock would be the one playing "hardball" if he wants to be the highest paid player in the league

No, I'm lying to you and I really don't think Purdy has leverage. Also 'hardball' can't possibly work unless a party has no leverage. Pretty dumb.

Which of the FA QB's would you sign and/or who would you take in the draft to replace Purdy?

One of you needs to answer this or else it's just emotional wishful thinking/hoping that he signs for some absurd number like $30m-$40m per.

I'm just pointing out the number isn't foolish. It's close based on the market

i think he would take it. in what world is pick 262, getting 200m and generational wealth, not a win? imagine if he doesn't take it and we actually had stones, ok, we go with plan B and brock is dangling in the breeze (no pun intended). he would be missing his game checks on a 900k salary, and sitting out and becoming yesterday's news. he'd never get that 200m back. he just has more to lose than SF does.
