QB Brock Purdy Thread

the fact is Purdy was worse this year than last year.

Without an All-Star backing group, Purdy struggled, and we didn't even make the play offs.

Is that the future, the destiny that you want for this franchise?

yeah its football. the ball is oblong, and that happens from time to time. that's why they play the games, as Chris Berman would say.

and you want to act like the pats were screwed during the brady era.

It's just football for everybody but Brock for you lmao

And I was actually using your own logic. Brady lost on the best team he ever played for. Didn't mean he was screwed

NY is.. and that's what i'm myth busting it

Except NY suggests it if and only if Brock wants a top tier deal, ie there's an impasse in negotiations.

He has flat out stated if Brock were to take Love like deal, he'd support it.

Not a single person has suggested to just let him test the market outright. The first thing any team would do is offer a contract favorable to the team. This goes without saying, or at least should*

I feel like I've been pretty transparent about all of it lol. I'm not even sure what everyone is so bent out of shape about?

I blame the schools, lol.

But Kyle has always been about optics... for example he never likes the idea of the backup QB making more than the starting QB. Which is why he finally accepted Jimmy G back on the team if he took a contract paying him less than the 2nd year QB, Trey Lance.

So Kyle is gonna be all in for overpaying Brock on a long contract...instead of franchise tagging him (even though this would be the best option for the team). At least until Brock bounces back next season. Then it would be worth *overpaying* for him.

Dude, no it isnt. Why people keep saying this is beyond me. It is demonstrating you have no clue what you are talking about.

Like I said before, Brock will not hold out... he will not take the chance of another QB (with full OTA's + Training camp) running this QB friendly offense, with the playmakers we have. So yeah, let him play out 2025. Hell can use the excuse that the reason we have been successful for the past 4 years is because we have QBs on rookie deals.. and Brock is a continuation of that. Then decide to Tag or pay him next year.

there you go... we'll see.

now before some feel I'm some Brock hater.. I still believe in him, but I don't believe in him under Kyle anymore (enough to pay him $60+mill)... so for me to be convinced I would need to see if Kyle adjusts his offense next year and gives Brock more freedom at the line of scrimmage.

Do you think honestly think that was a smart move by the Cowboys?

As opposed to what? Their roster is better than the 49ers' when everybody's healthy.

The concern with Dak is he just hasn't been good enough in the playoffs. Nothing to do with the cap.
We are all Victims.

That is the mentally these days.

Lol, alrighty.

Not sure what the point is of the second part of the post. Most would agree he's not good enough I believe.

yeah, i said we didn't win on the rook deal with brock, and now he's going for a real deal. that means we lose a great advantage of QB on a rook contract, and historic rook deal. you read this and say oh yeah it's like tom brady.

wasn't tom a dynasty on his rook deal, with 2 or 3 rings? so what the heck are you talking about.

I'm sorry Trey didn't work out for you.

Tell me about all this amazeballs talent on the 49ers' roster.

The point is that the problem is whether or not he's good enough, not the cap figure. The cap figure is irrelevant.

I'd give 2023 Brock 100 million per year if he wanted it. I wouldn't give 2024 Brock more than $1 million per year to be a backup.

You don't play cap games with QB.

And Tom lost a SB in his prime on one the best teams ever. Which means not winning with the best roster you played on does not mean you're screwed

I agree with this to an extent. I think you could live with a QB like Dak on a hugely discounted deal, but I still mostly agree it's about whether they're worth extending at all. The commitment in terms of years is more important than the number.
