biggest contract in club history and ppl laugh at it. i don't get it
he would be the highest paid 49er and one of the top in the NFL
Why wouldn't he get the biggest deal in club history? He is the most important player on the team.
this would be the biggest deal. that is what i am saying. no need to mock it. what are we trying to do here? drive our price up to the moon? how about we all put our numbers down, and we can revisit when the time comes?
If you don't know why a 5 yr 205m contact is comical I don't know what to tell you.
Wouldn't be comical to me. I would love it if Brock signed that deal
i would as well, and that would be coming a long way for sir brock. he'd be one of the highest paid NFL players. i just draw a line at him asking for more AAV than Mahomes among others. if other teams want to be crackheads like whatever cleveland is doing that is their problem. let them be the suckers.
Mahomes signed his contract July 6th, 2020. It's been nearly 5 years. Below is a list of all the QBs in the 45M+ AAV club. nAAV is the new cash AAV. tAAV is the total cash AAV over the entire contract. Finally is the total cash value of the contract over the total unadjusted league cap total over the life the contract. I'm presuming the year-to-year cap growth of future years is 7%.
- Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs, 2020-31, 45M nAAV, 39.8M tAAV, 477.6M/3.434B (13.91%)
- Aaron Rodgers, Packers, 2022-26, 50.3M nAAV, 37.4M tAAV, 186.8M/1.254B (14.89%)
- Deshaun Watson, Browns, 2022-26, 46M nAAV, 46M tAAV, 230M/1.254B (18.34%)
- Kyler Murray, Cardinals, 2022-28, 46.1M nAAV, 38M tAAV, 265.7M/1.902B (13.86%)
- Russell Wilson, Broncos, 2022-28, 48.5M nAAV, 42.3M tAAV, 296M/1.902B (15.56%)
- Jalen Hurts, Eagles, 2023-28, 51M nAAV, 43.2M tAAV, 259.3M/1.694B (15.31%)
- Lamar Jackson, Ravens, 2023-27, 52M nAAV, 52M tAAV, 260M/1.359B (19.14%)
- Justin Herbert, Chargers, 2023-29, 52.5M nAAV, 42.3M tAAV, 296.2M/2.052B (14.44%)
- Joe Burrow, Bengals, 2023-29, 55M nAAV, 44.3M tAAV, 310M/2.052B (15.11%)
- Kirk Cousins, Falcons, 2024-27, 45M nAAV, 45M tAAV, 180M/1.134B (15.87%)
- Jared Goff, Lions, 2024-28, 2024-28, 53M nAAV, 48.1M tAAV, 240.6M/1.469B (16.38%)
- Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars, 2024-30, 55M nAAV, 43.8M tAAV, 306.3M/2.210B (13.86%)
- Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins, 2024-28, 53.1M nAAV, 47.1M tAAV, 235.6M/1.469B (16.04%)
- Jordan Love, Packers, 2024-28, 55M nAAV, 46.2M tAAV, 231M/1.469B (15.73%)
- Dak Prescott, Cowboys, 2024-28, 60M nAAV, 54.8M tAAV, 274M/1.469B (18.66%)
NFL Franchise QBs have NFL Franchise QB price tags. These guys are expensive to keep. Purdy is up now. Stroud next year. Daniels in 2027. Allen and Mahomes can redo their deals anytime they want (Allen maybe this year, Mahomes maybe in 2027). Lamar in 2026-27. The carousel of Franchise QB contracts continues to turn.
The QB contract market is essentially 5 tiers at this point. Franchise QB tier (55M+), retiring Franchise QB tier (40-50M), QBs that need to prove themselves (30-45M), journeymen (<20M), and rookie wage scale contracts.
