QB Brock Purdy Thread

(i've seen ppl post on all three in this thread, as a matter of fact). that's a pretty big gap. at the end of the day it's not our answer that will decide, it involves how GMs around the league view it. you just sit and assume oh he's better than love and dak (who were coming off much better years) therefore he gets more than them. i can't say GMs agree with you. those guys were bigger investments, with more tools and coming off stronger seasons. all that factors in.

What?

I am not assuming anything and our assumptions and opinions are irrelevant.
Teams and agents decide who they want to use as comps and negotiate from there.

you may get lance, you may get mahomes, josh allen, j daniels, or any number of high end round 1 QBs.

We passed on two of those guys.

Brock is a very good and young FQB. The best QB this team has drafted in over 40 years.

then we agree. that's what i have been saying. teams decide the comps. teams plural. SF and the agent would be wise to understand or get feelers on what GMs around the league think of brock and how they would pay him. i don't pretend that GMs universally think he's as good as or better than 2023 dak or 2023 love.

that's not much of a statement. you can say the best kicker we drafted is moody. who else did we draft?
also it's hard to just say purdy is better than alex. alex probably right now has the better career, based on volume.

The 49ers will determine what comps they think are valid, the player's agent will have their own comps and they will negotiate using those comps and trends.
You're opinion on 2023 is irrelevant.

Hes the best QB they've had in 2 decades. I don't want to go back to needing the run game, playmakers and defense to have to make up for the qb.

I am just stating facts on our draft history.

Wanting to move on from Brock to draft an unnamed QB is dumb AF.

LOL, it isn't hard to say at all. It is undisputeable.

He doesn't actually want an unnamed qb. Wants a specific one to come back.

what is indisputable? i'm not even an alex guy. i got tired of alex. but i do understand the situation he walked into, vs the situation brock walked into. they were not the same. brock i am sure struggles in 2005, and alex no doubt is better set up in 2022. alex won like 100 games, it's way too early to be doing brock purdy career comps with guys who played a long time.

outside of the politics thread, I 100%%%% agree, it would be beyond foolish to get rid of Brock, he's good QB and at times a great QB - the kid can play. Now, lets draft some OL to protect him

Off topic: Speaking of undisputable, what happened to Skip Bayless' show. They cancel that piece of s**t?

Purdy was better in 2023 than Alex Smith was at any time in his career.
