Purdy was better in 2023 than Alex Smith was at any time in his career.

just hard to say that with all the variables around the QB being different. QB is very much a game of what is around you to work with, who is your playcaller, etc. we just saw that with brock. brock's situation changed, and the bottom fell out. we finished in last place.

i would say something like the 2023 49ers had a better O than any Smith O perhaps. that sounds correct. brock plays a role in 2023 so does kyle, trent, cmc, BA, kittle, deebo, those are not bad players and coaches. my theory is a ton of QBs like alex once he became functional, could thrive in that situation, like brock did.

Alex threw to Hill Maclin and Kelce and ended up with like 15 tds lol. He had Hill Kelce and the NFL rush leader in 2017 along with a good line. That's a better #1, a better receiving TE, the nfls top rusher, better OL, and he still couldn't do better as a 12 year vet than second year Brock

Seems like you struggle to compare QBs.

talk about 3rd year brock. what happened? those KC teams were in the playoffs in that era. we just won 6 games, last place. i saw passes hanging in the air and crucial INTs at the worst moments. late season we could hardly score. score 6 points at home vs our rival. big money deals it's time to ask hard questions. not just pontificate all day about best in 40 years. that's terrible. and notice we always do this, jimmy was the best in 2017, colin in 2012, alex in 2011 and on it goes..

Alex sucked compared to Brock. What happened this year is OL sucks and our best receiver was a 4.8 guy. Still top 10 in qbr and epa per play, so he was much better than you try to convince people

Alex missed the playoffs in 2014, on a team that allowed the 2nd fewest points in the NFL.

Let's do bad situation to bad situation. Brock top 10 epa and qbr. Alex constantly benched

Now good situations. Brock blows him out there too

Brock has already had a better season than Alex ever had and he's doubled his playoff wins. He's only 3 years in lmao

Compare their best and worst seasons.

And didn't throw one TD to a receiver, still one of the craziest stats I've ever seen. Alex wasn't close to Brock
Purdy so good Brian Griese decided to stay.
