what is indisputable? i'm not even an alex guy. i got tired of alex. but i do understand the situation he walked into, vs the situation brock walked into. they were not the same. brock i am sure struggles in 2005, and alex no doubt is better set up in 2022. alex won like 100 games, it's way too early to be doing brock purdy career comps with guys who played a long time.
Purdy was better in 2023 than Alex Smith was at any time in his career.
just hard to say that with all the variables around the QB being different. QB is very much a game of what is around you to work with, who is your playcaller, etc. we just saw that with brock. brock's situation changed, and the bottom fell out. we finished in last place.
i would say something like the 2023 49ers had a better O than any Smith O perhaps. that sounds correct. brock plays a role in 2023 so does kyle, trent, cmc, BA, kittle, deebo, those are not bad players and coaches. my theory is a ton of QBs like alex once he became functional, could thrive in that situation, like brock did.
