If the team sucked when he was on a minimum salary, you obviously must be for moving on from Purdy, right? He's going to cost about 5x more than he did last year. And the cost is just going to go up every year we keep him.

Cant make it any clearer.

Just doesn't make sense though. There's no correlation. Brock will always be compared to QBs that are worse than him no matter what kinda season we had. The Trey Lance debates prove this

He's locked in for at least 3 more years if that's what we want.

"The cost is just going to go up" --- the cost of what?

If people are busily comparing your QB to All-Time greats at the end of the year, the team "probably" had a very good year, offensively.

If the comparisons that gain attention are guys like Sam Darnold, it probably didn't go all that great.

There's no causation, but there's plenty of correlation. I cant help you out any more than that.

Well, you see, the Purdy-Darnold thread had 39 pages of commentary. Ignore the actual substance of the commentary. Just the fact a conversation happened is what matters! Purdy was compared to a guy who had a 14-3 season and that is a reflection of the terrible season the 49ers had! Or something.
When Sheen is your confidant, you're not doing all that great. More correlation.

Going to now count how many times he tries to force Trey into conversation here until Brock gets his new deal.

There's no correlation on this board. See the Trey days

Start the count. That's really all you can do as a Trey fan. You can't be taken seriously when discussing Brock when you thought Trey was better

The cost of keeping Purdy. It's going to keep going up every year we keep him. If you think he sucks when he's getting paid 0.1% of the salary cap and 99.9% is going to the avengers, does it not hold up that he would have fewer avengers around him when he consumes 6% of the salary cap in 2025? 7% in 2026? 8% in 2028? Or if we "locked in" on him via the non-exclusive franchise tag, which would have cap hits of 5.2M (2%), 45M (15%), and 55M (17%) the next three years?

Not surprising coming from you. Jesus Christ.

Dumbasses compare Brock to QBs that are worse than him and it sparks conversation. That means Brock no good

He started a conversation by saying something stupid! That means we had a bad year lol

This implies that in the future he will certainly be playing well, doesn't it??

I don't blankly assume that a guy so young is going to turn it around, especially given the arsenal at his disposal in 2023. It aint gonna be like that all the time.

You've guaranteed yourself a positive trend in your mind while I'm in the "wait until I see more" camp.

As a GM I'd happily risk cost going up over collapsing teams in the future for the sake of trying to prevent rising costs. Cap space goes up as well...u do know that, right? Risk is inherent on both sides. If you're able to acknowledge it and can stop guaranteeing future success with so many moving parts and variables you can't predict, you'll see things clearer.
