One of the best deep ball passers in 2023.
What happened this yr?
I mean, since a lot of posters seem to disregard the reasons as to why this could be the case, the only logical conclusion one could make is Brock just forgot how.
Defenses do tend to adjust to relatively new players. That seems logical as well.
Is that the main reason you think Brock's numbers were worse this past season than 2024?
Was pointing out that there are other logical conclusions, clearly.
It's not logical to conclude "defenses adjusted" is the reason his deep ball accuracy wasnt as good though.
There are many reasons things happen in the NFL, why stats are so hard to breakdown in the NFL. Lots of variables.
However if a QB shows he can do something, they don't just forget as joked about earlier in this exchange. Defenses didn't adjust to Brock, they adjusted to our offense. Brock was at the very top of the NFL in air yards per attempt and completion for the bulk of the season once again but once Aiyuk got hurt it became that much harder. Even then he finished 10th in Intended Air Yards per attempt and 3rd in Air Yards per completion and 1st in Air yards per attempt.
Also this whole "he doesn't play well in bad weather games" did people watch Stafford? He struggled more in that rain game than Purdy did. And regardless of getting close vs the Eagles...he wasn't great there either.
Few QBs are great in bad weather, especially the rain. Snow games are another thing all together because a lot of the trouble is footing.
But the fact is we've had 2 rain games in the playoffs with Brock Purdy as the starter. We won both of them.
One was Brock's first playoff start where he threw for over 300 yards and 3 TDs including another on the ground and easily could've had a 4th passing TD if Aiyuk made the catch on the play we all know.
The other was last year with Deebo out of the game early and leading a game winning drive in the rain and making big plays to a guy like Chris Conley.
Yes it's a little ugly sometimes in those games but considering the circumstances, I wouldn't say he's got a major issue in bad weather, no more than some guys who are a lot more respected for their ability to play the position.
