Goff has been a known commodity to us for a long time. Great guy, very smart and can make most throws if he has time in the pocket and there's no pressure in his face. Once you get to him a bit and it's not great.

Put Goff behind the 49ers OL last year and see how far you get.

you get the same stuff man. you don't think goff can play with kittle and deebo and jennings and win 6 games? with kyle shanahan?
Grant Cohn said today the 49'ers could draft a QB in Day 2 of the draft.

Probably best to fade Grant Cohn's predictions.
Day 2 seems unlikely. Day 3 seems plausible.

I really hope you're not trying to pretend Brock is like Goff in this case.

Goff had the type of setup people claimed Brock had last year - dominant run game, terrific WR group and an excellent TE and unlike Brock last year he also had a dominant OL out there with him.

Yet when they put the ball in his hands and that great OL of theirs showed some cracks....Goff delivered a game that would've had people ripping Brock to shreds if he did the same.

Goff turned the ball over twice as many times in this one game alone than Brock has in his 6 playoff games starting.

how is he not like goff? they are both mid tier QBs who pilot loaded Os. with goff you gain some arm, and lose some mobility.

Seriously, they are nothing alike. Brock has flourished under pressure quite a bit (this year not so much), especially when he has to extend plays, avoid sacks and make plays with receivers that get little to no separation.

Goff, on the other hand has been one of the absolute worst quarterbacks under pressure and even outdoors or in away games. He also makes horrible decisions despite being benefited by the best offensive line in football.

if Brock had that team, we would have two Super Bowls right now possibly three

Not at all behind that line with no time to pass, being completely immobile and again the worst quarterback under pressure last year and almost every year of his career ranking toward the bottom

Goff led hos team to comeback win in the road in nfccg to make the Superbowl. Brock did it at home but both have a quality playoff resume

That was a great game.

Still get a kick out of the Saints getting absolutely screwed on the no call PI. Too bad the Rams were the beneficiary. Probably would have been a better SB had the Saints won, but they blew it.
Jayden Daniels from the Washington Commanders has shown what you can do if you strike it rich with a great QB pick.

So he is the high bench mark.

Jayden Daniels already has one less play off win than Lamar Jackson.

With the new rules, the NFL is even more a quarterback league

yes. the new prototype. goff was 1 overall in his day, but the league is changing. teams asking the QB to get those tough yards in red zone, short yardage, and also chuck it all over the yard. so are you a dynamic playmaker at QB? i'd really like to see that kind of QB with shanny.
He should be paid around what Baker got.
If its 3rd and 2 or 4th and 2, in the new league, with the new rules, its up to the Quarterback to get the yards by his feet.

Washington run a three option offense. QB run, RB run, short pass to WR/TE on the sideline. Very hard to stop if you only need two yards on a play.

It is very Hard to tackle in the modern game.

One of the best deep ball passers in 2023.

What happened this yr?

I mean, since a lot of posters seem to disregard the reasons as to why this could be the case, the only logical conclusion one could make is Brock just forgot how.

Defenses do tend to adjust to relatively new players. That seems logical as well.

Is that the main reason you think Brock's numbers were worse this past season than 2024?

Was pointing out that there are other logical conclusions, clearly.

It's not logical to conclude "defenses adjusted" is the reason his deep ball accuracy wasnt as good though.

That's too much of a 1:1 causation there. There can be a number of factors,...and defensive adjustments to a 2nd-yr starter can certainly play a part of it. You try to take away a player's strengths.

Maybe you all the film from the whole season, though. What did you pick up?

Thank you for the article that doesnt really address anything about teams adjusting to Brock's deep ball.
Other teams know Brock has a "pop gun" arm so the secondary can sit on him on 2nd and 3rd and long.

Plus losing Brandon Aiyuk, meant Purdy lost his no 1 option on downfield plays.

This made it even easier for secondaries to sit on Brock when the 49ers needed longer plays.
