QB Brock Purdy Thread

The Kyle Shanahan offense needs a WR that can beat man and stretch defenses vertically so everyone else can feast underneath. Andre Johnson, Pierre Garcon, Julio Jones, Brandon Aiyuk, and Nico Collins are names that come to mind. Since 2010, 7 players have averaged more than 3 yard per route run on at least 400 routes run (bold are guys who did it in a shanahan system): Victor Cruz, Andre Johnson, Julio Jones (3x), Cooper Kupp, Tyreek Hill (2x), Brandon Aiyuk, and Nico Collins. When Aiyuk went down, it fell on Kittle to stretch defenses further so Deebo, Jennings, and Pearsall could continue working the short-intermediate zones. The lack of deep threat roster depth behind Aiyuk was always a problem, which is why they brought in Terrace Marshall Jr. during Aiyuk's holdout.

Great post Typecast.

You get it more than most about Purdy/Shannhan/Offensive play calling and how we work.

The offensive play calling is horrible. Absolutely no tempo, seem to call the opposite run/pass to what seems obvious, Purdy holding the ball way too long and there is zero creativity.

Too often who is out there and alignment makes the play call so predictable.

Too many empty backfields and lack of play action for me.
I'm surprised some people here think purdy has a good arm. I understand it's a niners site and I expect a little homerism but anyone who watches purdy and is honest will say it's not very good. Absolutely a bottom 10 arm amongst starters.

That doesn't mean he's a bad QB, he does other things well, but his arm is about the bare minimum you could have to be starter in the league

Sometimes on TV, when Purdy floats a long ball, you can see a snail in the picture traveling faster than the speed of his throw.
What would Brock's trade value be? Would it be worth rolling the dice on Rodgers like we should have with Manning or Brady? Going all in with several top picks...

Citing stats that say he was the best deep passer in 23 isn't the same as saying he has a strong arm. It cracks me up how you guys think we can't see that his arm isn't the strongest. Or that he's smaller stature. Or that he doesn't have long speed

People that know absolutely nothing about football can see these things lol and because those people are completely clueless they question how the hell Brock is even out there. Because they are clueless

The Jets were supposed to be a qb away. They won 7 games with garbage QBs in 23, and Jets fans were just salivating over what it was going to look like with Aaron. They won 5 games lmao
