If he was "good enough" this season 49ers make the playoffs. We all hope he gets back to 2023 Brock.
Give him the Chiefs defense and special teams and I can guarantee you he would've been good enough to make the playoffs.
People love to overlook the drastic regression injury related or otherwise this year all around Brock save a handful of players and pretend other QBs would somehow make chicken salad out of that chicken sh*t.
In close, one-score games, the 2024 San Francisco 49ers went 2-6. In games decided by a field goal or less, the 49ers went 1-3.
KC just won its NFL record 17th straight game decided by one score.
You do realize having a good defense and special teams helps win those types of games right?
The 3 losses you mention in 3 point games were 3 of our divisional losses.
Rams - Moody missed a FG late to make it a two score game. Bell dropped a dime from Purdy to get us into game winning FG range and the defense gave up a 10 point lead in the 4th.
Arizona - Moody being unable to kick the ball for a touchback produces a big return on which he gets injured and we have no proper kicking game in the 2nd half. Defense can't hold another 10 point lead. Mason fumbles in the redzone.
Seattle - Defense can't hold the lead late.
You can say whatever you want about Purdy but had he had the support on defense and special teams a lot of those close games get flipped from Ls to Ws.
And it's stupid to bring up their respective records because the implication was it's all Mahomes. They just won a 1 score game...why? Cuz their defense made enough plays to hold a 3 point lead.
Sometimes that's the difference between the QB being praised as a winner and damned for choking/blowing the game.
