Brock by no means was perfect and has things to get better at, but there were a plethora of issues around him that also hurt him, not support him.
but… his major concern in college was that he didn't really improve a ton from frosh to senior year (specifically stats) but idk if that's cause of the diminish around him or he just has a really high floor?
I still believe in him. He isn't on Josh Allen's level - where he can cover up a ton of talent issues weekly, but I think he is easily a top 10 qb and if we can fix the stuff we did horrible this year - we will be contending again.
WR sep was awful this year. Run game was super inconsistent and unreliable in the pass game. Pass blocking was trash. Those things make
the offense very predictable.
Hmmm. Our 2 main RBs this year both averaged over 5 YPC, though, right? Mason hit at 5.2 yards a pop and Guernendo was @ 5.0ypc.
Per PFF, the OLine graded out at 13th overall, with a PBWR @ 14th overall. Both of these are above average, in contrast to what you are saying.
Are you sure that everything around him was absolutely horrible?
Not everything but using PFF grades to grade OL is straight up disingenuous. For instance they don't negatively grade OLmen who let defenders go unblocked. So Spencer Burford in OT on a key 3rd down was a net neutral grade wise for them.
But if you want to bring up PFF ratings for the OL why not remind people about the so called pass pro Brock had last year? You know when it was 26th?
1) I edited the post b4 u could catch it obviously, but ESPIN had our PBWR @ 14th as well.
2) I'm not grading OLinemen. Simply responded to a post saying they were downright terrible.
3) Sure,...Bring it up. What about it? It enhances my point...which is obviously leaning towards "can we REALLY say the pass blocking was terrible?" and "can we REALLY lay the blame squarely on the OLine?"
If we really were 26th the year before, then thanks for the layup.
But on your crusade against PFF and ESPN,... either our guys were "winning blocks" along the lines of what they're saying, or both companies are completely making things up, and you have your own much better ratings regarding how often we were winning blocks?
Give the better info so we can discuss it. I'm still falling back to questioning how the poster may be exaggerating things. Exaggeration doesnt raise a player's actual level of play,...remember?
Once again...what happened to the eye test you loved so much a few pages ago?
What layup you taking exactly? The whole pitch that you can't pay Purdy because he requires everything to be great for him.
Nothing's changed. I asked a question,... I didn't make a proclamation that our OL is Top 5 in the league (something we'll hear about Brock constantly...though most move it to Top 10).
Nothing can replace watching games. Stats are great to use as evidence of things and it is then open for discussion and interpretation.
Thesis statement followed by supporting details,...in the form of observations and data. At least, that's what I learned in middle school?
If the OL's pass blocking was 26th last year and 14th this year by the same metric,....then let's not try to pin his underperformance on them. Not buying it without better observations/info given.
Original question asked:
Compared to the rest of the NFL,...was the OL's pass blocking really horrible as a whole this past year? Keep in mind that all of this stuff is relative.
