Brock will have to have done enough in a 49ers uniform to convince his team that he is worth building around, and have the confidence of his franchise, to avg $60M/yr in GTD money. It will not be simply because it's now a market norm for new QB contracts.

What percentage of $60m vs 2024 cap vs Jimmy G record contract and cap in that year. I can do math tomorrow but not on my iPad at night.

i still say $60m is too much with many other positions to fill. Not till the next contract. If worthy.

All depends on how the contract is structured. Odds are that it will have a large signing bonus. If Brock signs a 6 year deal - it probably wouldn't exceed $30M a year for the first 3-4 years of the deal. It would be a 6 year extension! So 7 years total. He would get a ton of money upfront in signing bonus and then they'd structure it accordingly. So even though his cap hit would be $10M or so - he would actually get like $100M in signing bonus or whatever (idk what the number actually is but it'll be a lot in signing bonus)

brocks contract isn't going to be a massive pain on the salary cap, especially if they do the triple option structuring. Obviously anytbjng he's paid will be more than it now but it isn't like his contract will be $50$60m salary cap hits every year.

I'm not sure why you care about the 2024 cap when a possible Purdy extension this offseason would be on the 2025 cap.

• Dak - 2024 - 60M/255.4M = 23.49%.
• Jimmy - 2018 - 27.5M/177.2M = 15.52%
• Brock (60M) - 2025 - 60M/273.3M = 21.95%
• Burrow (highest) - 2023 - 55M/224.8M = 24.47%

Total contract value vs Total unadjusted cap over contract (~7% growth year-to-year for future years)

• Dak - 2024-28 - 269M/1.469B = 18.32%
• Jimmy - 2018-22 - 137.5/954.3M = 14.41%
• Brock @ 300M/5 ext - 2025-30 - 305.2M/1.955B = 15.61%
• Brock @ 240M/4 ext - 2025-29 - 245.2M/1.571B = 15.60%
• Lamar (highest) - 2023-27 - 260M/1.359B = 19.14%

Should probably mention Mahomes and the Chiefs. They restructured his cash flow in 2023, moving 43.3M from 2027-31 to 2023-26. Just playing with the numbers, Mahomes will make at least 327.9M total cash from 2020-26 (16.84% of 1.947B). 300.3M of that was new money from the extension, putting his extension AAV through 2026 at 50.05M (25.25% of the 2020 cap of 198.2M). In 2027, Mahomes will have 209M/5 remaining on his current deal, dragging down his extension AAV back to the original 45M. He'll likely get a new contract around then.
edit - The media deal the league currently has with networks goes through 2033, but there is a league option to terminate the deal in 2029. It's expected the league will opt out and the early 2030s will see another boom to the salary cap.

We were comparing the new contracts of starters.

He (TypeCast) has stayed away from "Brock will get $60M guaranteed per yr bcuz he's just that good."

He has opted for " starting QBs today are simply going to get this going forward... cause of the MARKET. "

So he has been given an example of a starting QB where the numbers on his relatively-new contract were fluff and after a couple yrs, the team had an out.

I see you want to instead attach the contract offer with the ability of the starter, just as well as I do, right?

Once again nobody here is claiming Brock is going to get a fully guaranteed deal worth $60+ per year.

Every person in here understands the contract will be full of that same fluff you're going on about with Daniel Jones' contract. It will just have more guarantees because Brock actually has proven a lot more than Daniel Jones ever has. That's how contracts work.

Proven players get paid more guaranteed money but unless a player is considered elite and has very few limitations and coming into the contract extension time after a monster season they get more fluff.

I've mentioned the Jalen Hurts contract many times in here and I see others are starting to do the same. I fully expect Brock's deal to mirror that type of deal but adjusted for the so called NFL inflation.
