QB Brock Purdy Thread

Kermit looked a lot like Purdy last night. Running for his life, forced to make plays that ended in picks… it's what happens when your oline takes the night off and when the referees actually call what they see for both sides. Funny how that works…

GET OUR MAN PROPERLY PROTECTED and we will be hoisting the trophies. There is no debate. We have our guy at qb. Now we need ,D line. O line, CB , LB and 1 more reliable receiver. Let's stop wasting time and energy on his contract… get it done and fill in the missing pieces.

These are meaningless words. Let's look at the structure:

Jalen Hurts' yearly cap hits with the Philadelphia Eagles under his current contract are as follows:

- **2023**: $6.15 million

- **2024**: $13.56 million (5.2% of the cap)

- **2025**: $21.77 million

- **2026**: $31.77 million

Now that context has been added and fluff words have been left out...

With hits like these,... what do you think the Eagles have been able to do around him? He hasnt even hit $15M yet.

I'd be thrilled for Purdy to have a similar structure.

I'd rather see us front load. If god forbid this doesn't work we don't have a ton of dead money to deal with.

As long as Brock plays well is contract will get restructured multiple times. Much like Hurts and Mahomes.

the eagles have drafted well. They get in front of expiring contract and get dudes extended well before their cap hits get crazy (did it with AJ brown this past off season) . They add a bunch of void yrs in their contracts to spread out the cap.

end of the day pay the guys that are really good and play positions that don't have some crazy drop off. Pay the OL and DL. Those guys can play for a solid decade at a high level.

Maybe if you weren't busy trying to dunk on people's takes left and right you'd have picked up the fact that for months I've been saying I expect Brock's contract to be very similar to Hurts' and there is a reason I put "highest QB contract" in quotes...

Exactly. Didn't see many fire Reid comments this morning.

This is what happens when a great playcaller and elite QB face a great defense with OL issues but people were going all in on Shanahan and Purdy for losing vs a great Chiefs defense when he's getting pressured on the regular.

Once again - even elite QBs like Mahomes need help. Doesn't matter how good their playcalling is, if they start feeling that pressure and their guys aren't getting open on the regular they will not look their best.

What I'm busy with or not busy with is unrelated to yearly cap hits,....which is the only point of contention I've really seen regarding Brock's contract. #LetsFocus

If we can pull off the same types of moves with Brock's extension that they pulled off with Hurts, we'll be in great shape.

Which is why I referenced that contract and situation time and time again in this thread.

I've said many times that the "highest paid" stuff is typically all fluff unless you're a proven stud with no hiccups on your record. That's not Brock. The way Brock has talked about himself in the past I don't see a way his contract is on the level of the ones I just mentioned.

Maybe it won't be exactly like Hurts depending on how the 49ers want to structure it but I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that once the deal is done we will see a headline that says Brock signed a one of or "highest QB contract in NFL history" but the cap hits are nowhere near the APY numbers that come out first.
what was maddening last super bowl was kc wants to sell out on the RB, ok, win with one on ones downfield. philly did that. we could not
A peak Brock Purdy on a Shanny Niners offense would have been held to 20 points by either of those two defensive fronts I saw last night.
I don't know what 2 or three upgrades on our O line or a healthy CMC would do to change that.
At least Brock gives us a fighting chance so there's a payday in that, but Hurts said it himself, defense wins championships.

Virtually the same defensive front Purdy and the 49ers put up 42 points on in 3 quarters last year.

The big change for the Eagles was their additions in the secondary, finding an absolute gem in Baum at LB and bringing in Vic Fangio.

Improving the OL is always a good idea. Defense wins championships when they can get to the QB and specifically when they can get pressure with the front 4. We know this from our days of having Vic run things here.

We haven't been able to generate that pressure with out front 4 consistently since Demeco left unfortunately and need to address it but OL has to be better so we can't be on the other side of that disaster.

Brock has played a few bad games but nothing like that, especially considering the magnitude of the game. He's never taken 6 sacks plus turn the ball over that much with the stakes so high.

i bet are weak offense at week 17/18 would have carved up Philly if we played them. Our scheme just works just works against them.. like the Rams and other WC style offenses

He never faced a hungry and ferocious D line like that either. You aren't saying Brock is better than Mahomes are you?
