I bet Jed doesn't cave in with this new hardball approach. I wonder if they budge beyond what they've offered.

If we seriously let our best QB since Steve Young walk because of Jed's obsession with a ****ing soccer team then I might actually be done as a fan. I'm not joking. I've sat through 7 NFC Championship appearances that netted zero Super Bowl wins and the tear downs we've had to go through in between, and this would be what pushes me away for good.

Wow…deep rabbit hole on twitter from grant cohn on whether the 49ers should trade purdy to Vikings for JJ and picks. Matt Miller replied as to whether the 49ers would have to include picks with Purdy to get JJ. Matt miller claims to be a 49er fan but seems to be much more of a chiefs fan. I was surprised how many replies thought the 49ers would have to include picks…maybe I'm just a homer but the whole idea is a no.

Matt Miller is a former 49ers fan who has hated us ever since we hired John Lynch. He's not a current fan at all.

If the Vikings wanted to pay a QB big money, they would have paid Sam Darnold

Matt Miller has definitely been acting like a scorned ex lover for a while.
The hypothetical trade is just that. Neither team will want to trade for the other. Vikings because they're building a team around a rookie contract and 49ers because they know who Brock is and right now JJ is nothing but a potential guy and we saw how well potential goes with Trey Lance. Sure JJ has a lot more experience and his floor is much higher than Lance's but right now he's got one year in the NFL and it was all rehabbing an injury.
Tho to me hypothetical aside - proven QB > potential QB.

A lot of the media seem to think Purdy threw for 2000 yards, 5 TDs and 25 INTs last year.
I bet you $20 if you put such a false state line up against his real 2024 stat line (3864 yds, 20 TDs, 12 INTs) at least 50% would think the false one was the real one.

Let's see how long we plug away at that best "drafted" QB of 40+ years line. Maybe it will stick? Dunno yet. Good luck either way.
Is it not true?
Why do facts trigger you into personal attacks?
1) The baiting's not helping. Try something else.
2) Saying someone's "the best" is not a fact,...it's an opinion.
3) Is now really the time? We've just signed the best FA QB of the last 361 days of 49ers history. And the best former NE QB in 49ers history.
Now's the time to celebrate.
He is clearly the best QB drafted by the 49ers in the oast 45 years. If yiu disagree, you should tell us who was better.
The point is that the 49ers have struggled to draft good QBs since Montana was drafted so they should hold on to the one they did draft.

And that was after losing his #1 WR and #1 RB.

The Yorks need cash and are not focused on just football. I believe this might be the…
its all coming together......
If any NFL owner is losing money and short on cash, they are inept and shouldn't own a team.

Before you throw bombs 💣 what if Purdy wants more than 50 Mil a year? Do we then trade him for picks?
He was a great processor for Kyle's type of offense and since we are more than likely not in the hunt this year, wait for him to fail on another team, take him back at a lower rate. We then rebuild his confidence when we are ready for a serious superbowl challenge.
Mac Jones will probably not be that far behind a a stop gap until then.
One problem Purdy balls out on another team and we're screwed.
I like Purdy a lot so this is not a knock on him, just thinking out of the box. I know it's probably crazy but just maybe that would work with the diminished hope of the current roster. To save cap space

You're 100% right. People throwing out how poorly Brock played last year but funny thing is you put up his numbers last year without context and most would see those stats and think the QB who put up those stats had a pretty solid season.
I've never seen a QB have higher standards than Brock it's honestly kind of crazy.
Dude was 5th in the league in passing yards per game. 7th in QB. 10th in passing yards.
Obviously the biggest hits to Brock were his TDs were about middle of the pack(tied for 15) and his INT were high(tied with 7 other QBs for 4th highest)
His numbers were actually right on par with CJ Stroud - who coincidently also had injuries to his playmakers.

Please let's not encourage Lobs. Man's been shooting off hot takes like they're paying his bills.

I hate to say it but I would like to see this team without Brock and then see how everyone feels about it when it's back to loserville. (I hope we keep Brock but this would maybe stiffle all the any QB can do what Brock does rheteric.)
