It's all going to reshuffle again next year and the amounts they're talking about now will be irrelevant. I'm sick of my popcorn now, get r done.

I kinda don't think BP would be where he is now if 49ers didn't draft him

This is irrelevant because he was drafted by the 49ers and is here and is a part of the reason for the 49ers success. The 49ers had their opportunity to maximize the roster with him on a the rookie wage scale. Now it's time to pay him and build the roster differently.

Pay my boy.

Because 60M isn't unreasonable in any way given the salary cap increase and Purdy's production in the 2.5 years he has played.

It really doesn't matter what the APY is. It's largely irrelevant in QB negotiations. He will probably be closer to 55M then 60M anyway.

He can still improve especially if they fix the oline, center in particular and find Trent's replacement fast because if he gets hurt again...

I agree. I am hoping they draft multiple OL this draft. I would be fine if they drafted 4 DL, 3 OL, and 4 of whatever else they wanted.

Purdy has 1 year and 5.3M remaining. A 300M/5yr extension would bring his total contract to 305.3M/6yr, or a total contract AAV of 50.9M. He would be behind Allen (55M), Dak (53.8M), and Lamar (52M). Mahomes current 4-year cashflow from his 2023 restructure is 205.4M (51.35M AAV).

305.3M in total spending over the life of the contract (ignores void years) would consume 15.29% of the total available cap (1.997B @ 7% growth), which would be 13th amongst QB contracts since 2017. When Dak got his 240M/4 extension (totaled 269M/5), the 5-year total salary cap should be around 1.5B with a 7% growth. The cap will continue to grow and will get another spike when the league opts out of the current media deal in 2029.

Sure, but I don't think 49ers need to "meet halfway" or "compromise". They know the price tag. They need to just pay it before the price goes up.

Because you still got him for $5 million next year and a franchise tag is only 40 or so million a year. We can draw this out and still win.

Brock is a nice guy that's why we love him, but sometimes the last guy you want to piss off is a nice guy.

There is no winning when it comes to the franchise tag. You end up allocating more cap space (non-exclusive tag will be 45M next year) the next two seasons than just getting him under contract. You can't spread any of the spending the next two years. You'll be franchise tagging him into the next wave of QB contracts (Stroud, Mahomes, Lamar, etc). And when you do get the deal done, it'll be a straight up new contract as there won't be any existing years to spread new spending on to. That means larger cap hits over the life of the contract vs just getting the extension done this offseason. And you piss everyone off. You piss off the coaches. You piss off the fans. You piss off your players in the locker room seeing the franchise QB get shafted after eating a 7th round contract on the rookie wage scale. You piss off Purdy.

2 sides have to agree. He's not going to be given a blank check, like it or not, and he's under contract
All this York money that you guys are so easily tossing around……….know why Brock's not gonna get it? Cause that money is already promised overseas. I wasn't suprised at the fire sale and lack of players coming here in free agency cause I've been reading how much money the Yorks are gonna be dishing out at Leeds United. They have already promised the fans and the city that there will be no limit to what they do to keep Leeds United in the premier league once the get promoted. The 49ers will be an afterthought for a couple years and that means Brock ain't getting paid. Definitely not what he expects.
He will get like a Pantene Lawrence deal but without the suck or high gloss shine.

If you've been reading it feel free to post the info that says they need to take away money from the 49ers to pay Leeds.

Thanks for showing this. All the more reason to get it done asap and move on with the offseason program.

Leeds are not guaranteed to get promoted, they might be top of the league but they have started to falter and they have had a history of late season collapses.

I wonder if 49ers plan changes if that happens

And even if they were to make it - spending £150m in the PL does not guarantee you surivival - most teams that get promoted to the premier league end up going back down again.

I already have in York thread.

just go to the BBC. Just type in Leeds United. You can personally read about WHY the Yorks have pledged to spend that cash, because the last time Leeds was in the premier league their then owner couldn't compete money wise and they were relegated a couple years later. People here just don't realize how much money Leeds United is going to cost the Yorks. If they don't spend, their time in the premier league will be short and they have promised this time around will be different.

Leeds is a storied franchise in England. Their fans are fanatical and they are desperate to make it back to the premier league. The 49er fans will allow the Yorks to spend less and most here will buy the company line. Leeds is different. If you don't spend that money you won't be able to compete and that means relegation out of the premier league. Like was mentioned above, our saving grace could be Leeds falters like they did last year and they miss being promoted. Unfortunately it won't save this coming 49ers season.

Trade Brock, and draft Shadeur. Roll with Mac and Shadeur this season.
