Yeah we kinda got that from the rest of your post.
I've watched plenty of Mac Jones to know I don't want him starting for us. Some of you may not appreciate the leadership and intangibles that QBs bring into games…somewhat ironic cuz Montana was one of the best at those things but Jones isn't it.
And unless we turn the OL up a notch for this season Mac is not going to handle the rush the way Brock does.
Also calling Brock mid tier is a joke imo unless your evaluations are strictly on arm talent and running ability, then again given how you think Mac is just as good maybe that's exactly what you're doing.
Every QB relies on talent around him. This last season was a perfect reminder of that across the board. Brock is no different.
Again, I'm the biggest Brock supporter but where do we rank him among QB's?
Tier 1
1- Josh Allen
2- Patrick Mahomes
3- Lamar Jackson
4- Joe Burrow
5- Jalen Hurts
Tier 2
6- Jayden Daniels
7- Baker Mayfield
8- Jared Goff
Tier 3
Jordan Love, Matthew Stafford, Justin Herbert, CJ Stroud, Sam Darnold
Statistically last year he was behind all those guys and right on par with Kyler Murray. Yes, Injuries played a big role in that but maybe that goes to show this is what he is without an all star cast around him. When we have a star studded cast of playmakers he put up better stats but with that big contract we won't be having the luxury of having that cast.
That's not a bad thing, we can win games with him but does that mean he is a 45-50 mil a year QB?
Darnold just signed for 3 years, 100 million but it's basically a 1 year, 37.5 mil contract.
I think the most I'd go is 45 mil with incentives like playoff wins.
45 puts him right in the middle of the pack but if he wants more than 55 which is what Lawrence, Tua and Love got I don't think we can pay him that.
Stand firm at 4 years, 180 million with incentives that can push the deal to 60 mil a year like passing yards, TDs, wins and playoff wins. If he gets the 60 mil that probably means we win the SB and none of us would be upset.
We hold all the cards here. We can't let another player hold us hostage like Deebo, Aiuyk and Trent did.
Well if you want my rankings then Jalen Hurts is nowhere near 5. As a matter of fact I have him and Brock around the same ball park and for our offense I'd rank Brock higher. They both have limitations in their game. Brock's are more physical where Jalen is more mental.
But I'd rank them like this as of this moment.
Mahomes
Allen
Lamar
slight gap
Burrow
substantial gap
Matt Stafford - mostly due to his overall game, veteran status/consistency and his fit in the offense he's in
Jayden Daniels - I may get burned on this cuz I had CJ Stroud ranked similarly the year prior after his rookie year and he took a step back but I loved everything about Jayden's game. Difficulty to defend him, playing with so so weapons, clutch factor. Special kid.
Justin Herbert
CJ Stroud
Baker/Brock
Goff
Love
Dak
Love
Bunch of young QBs who can make a big jump after this season too.
There was so much wrong with the team last year and not just on offense no QB was going to show up big time in that situation and given the results Brock put on the field with everything going on I actually believe more in him, not less.
But I don't expect everyone to see it the same way as me on the QB evaluations.
