Why don't we focus on the real problem on that play… our guard didn't even attempt to block the best DT in ALL OF FOOTBALL (top 2 at worst). He was wide open to immediately pressure Brock. Dude barely got to take a step before having to get rid of the ball.

if it wasn't for our RG being horrendous - we would of scored. No doubt. Issue wasn't anything except the RG. Huge bonehead mistake that drastically dropped our chances to win it.

The team made a ton of mistakes that game. Tons. Especially the third quarter. We had a million chances to pull away and s**t the bed Everytime. Lots of blame to go around but that play… that's on Burford. All day. Every day.

Yes, Burford blew that protection no doubt but there were a dozen other critical mistakes in that game.

He's talking about just that one play and that was easily the biggest issue by far.

Did you actually watch the play instead of screen shot right when he starts his break? Purdy needs to throw that at chest line towards sideline, which is always where Jennings route was going. He has 2 yards of separation at that point. Is it an easy throw to make with anticipation? No.

That is why I say there are plenty of QBs in the NFL who would've failed at the throw like purdy did. No shame in not being able to make that play, he's still a good QB. We needed him to make an elite play overcoming absolute blown blocking assignment and he couldn't. It is what it is.

And to be clear, yes the main reason the play failed is OL. I'd love to have a QB who could overcome bad ol on a play like that

i don't blame the throw i blame the protection bust. and it's a team protection bust. simple communication can clarify who has 95, particularly on a key down. the play is overly cute with popping the center and that action confused no one other than maybe burford. we just let their best guy walk in on our QB. beat ourselves on that one

Are you for real? The ball is already OUT in that picture. Brock is one of the best QBs in the league at throwing with anticipation. You're doing some serious mental gymnastics acting like this is a standard throw top tier QBs make.

You want him to throw with anticipation that is an ELITE trait that Brock possess. Jennings was not open when Brock HAD to throw that ball and in that situation where you're in FG range that was 100% the right call not to try to put it on him with 2 defenders within striking distance.

Brock was overcoming bad OL play all year long - including getting us into the SB. What you're asking him to do is do something that's simply not standard regardless of how good of a QB is out there.

I'd love for you to find me a QB who makes that play in the exact same spot. Unblocked defender, run fake to take some time away and then throw outside to a spot before/as he's getting hit with 2 defenders in the area.

He wasn't confused. He knew his assignment. He went with his gut as he said it.

This is why people blaming everything on Shanahan while ignoring clear player mistakes like that is mind blowing to me. Burford was only in the game because Feliciano got injured and then in a critical moment in the game his gut tells him "hey don't block the best player on their DL on this pass play" and he listens to it.
looks like brock has a level two PPE which is a proven performance escalator

so his pay goes from what was 1m to 5.3 mil in 2025.

his entire rook deal was less than 5.3 mil. it was 4 years 3.7 mil. he played enough snaps to get the additional pay. it's a cba thing.

dont you understand Romper Room logic yet?

  • If something goes wrong, it's never the player's fault. only Shanny's.
  • if something is successful, the player balled out despite Shanny.

Feels like another reporter saying what's likely the obvious outcome first just so he can say he had it first.

Wasn't Shultz the guy who got into it with Rapoport at Starbucks at the combine lol?
