Mac Jones was probably brought in to shave another $15M off of it to boot.

Thats a good one.

Has he signed it? OK, you're on.

wagers are being made folks. this is how it is done. i'm on team get the contract done folks. there will be no games missed

I agree the contract gets done. Your wager is Brock signs for $45.

so we agree. that's not the wager lol. i said he probably has $45m on the table now (i believe that was reported). my wager was he's not missing games. you were saying he's gonna hold out and get to Chicago (somehow). not happening. i bet it is a quick deal.

Stop talking about the franchise tag. It's not the "win" or "leverage" you think it is. Thank you.

I'll talk about what ever I want to. Thank you.
It absolutely could be used if that scenario played out; not debatable

I didn't say it couldn't be used. Talking about it at the stage just makes you look stupid. If you are fine with that, go off king.

Feliciano was claiming he was dealing with a bunch of injuries last year but we just can't take that chance again. He was a menace out there. Need him on the bench if not off the team completely.

I do believe he's been super injured but tell me a center who isn't dealing with stuff? Brendel has been dealing with a ton of them for years and needs to be replaced - we can do it with a cheap rookie scale contract and get younger. We need to do more of what we did with Puni.

apparently we changed how we approached o line talent with analytics and got Puni. I hope we do more of that

I'll take this too! Lol it has been reported that the niners started at $45M

im confident this contract gets done and I'm also confident Brock doesn't miss games and somehow end up in Chicago of all places? Lol

If we end up using the franchise tag…. Something went drastically wrong and it would not be a good position for us to be in. lol it would be extremely disappointing.

At $5.1m. I wonder if he shows up for the off season and all but the last 6 games of the season to get the season accrual.

The last 6 games to accrue?? Did you really mean to type August 5th?

Nope.

It was relevant to the post I quoted. What's stupid is trying to tell someone that you don't know what they can and can't talk about in an online 49ers forum that exists for discussion thinking you some kind of "king" king

Again, what we have here is a failure to communicate. I'm saying if the team holds the line at $45m, Brock will not sign and will go elsewhere. Chicago is just an example that shows he doesn't Need Kyle to succeed.

Yeah, I bet the team quickly raises their offer if your number on the table now is correct. The Niners need Brock more than Brock needs the Niners, so we do agree he doesn't miss games. Brock will not show for $5.1m, and they can not franchise him as he is under contract. People think the team has the leverage. I do not. Lynch and Shanahan are already on the hot seat for major screwups, and Brock is not.

It's certainly leverage. Can you provide proof that it is not? Is it on record that players are sitting out multiple years to avoid it and somehow play again?

I mean I know I can provide the opposite of what you're saying:

The leverage is multiplied x10 in Purdy's case because Franchise Tag-type money doesn't even come until 2026, possibly. Until then, only $5M. If that doesn't bring you to the table to negotiate when you're worth alot more,...then I guess nothing would.

If Brock wants great press clippings where he's said to have the "highest paid contract in league history" or whatever, backloaded with a bunch of money he'll never see,...I have a feeling we could certainly accommodate him for that.

But in actual dollar amounts in GTD money,....I highly doubt the 49ers will back off from their stance and take the carrot off the string.

What makes u think you only need 6 games towards the end of the season to accrue a season?

Google:

Q. "What constitutes and 'accrued season'? A. Six or more regular season games on a club's active/inactive, reserve/injured or reserve/physically unable to perform list".

We've been here before on people holding out. They've got to come back for 6 games or the contract doesn't roll over into the next year.

Unlikely. We've only had 3 QBs in the past 15 years get tagged. Brees, Cousins, and most recently Dak.

If our cap wasn't an issue, I could see it happening possibly if both sides aren't close. But with a franchise tag, it would cost us $40 mil cap space this year. I suppose it is possible we've been shedding some money and not signing anyone expensive for that reason tho.
