some QB contract news, for whatever it is worth, from ESPN:

The Las Vegas Raiders and their new quarterback Geno Smith have agreed to two-year, $75 million extension, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The contract has incentives that could push the total to $85.5 million and includes $66.5 million in guaranteed money, the source said.

👀

i like the use of incentives. i think that would do us well also. incentives protect the team if the player is unavailable. they also reward the player if he's out there and producing. this could be seen as a compromise, and i am starting to anticipate some incentives for brock.

Which interview was it? Would love to check it out.

It was part of this interview but I can't find the link to the complete interview right now.

I read a quote from it somewhere else where Pearsall was telling Brock he would take a certain number of steps and turn around. He was constantly asking Purdy questions, etc.

this ^

Lmao has there been a qb get better when all their starters are injured? It's asinine.

even Brady struggled when his team was super injured in 2015. They started pit 10-0 and then got super injured and finished 12-4. Obviously he's a an all time great but every qb is worse when he has less to work with and the rest of the team is playing worse.

last season, Brock wasn't our issue. Nearly everything around him was the worst in the league. Idc who you plug in - the team is going to struggle and be worse than when it was super healthy.

Here is a different interview that explains a lot about Purdy the person and what is at the core of who he is.

So on a down year, on what matters to Ben Johnson, Purdy is 4th, and Caleb Williams is 31st. That incompatible with the argument that Williams is the reason Johnson took the Chicago job.

I imagine Ben believes he can fix Caleb. Maybe he can. We'll find out.

NFL coaches are arrogant af. That is why you see QBs who arent very good getting chance after chance. Coaches believe they can fix anything.

Agreed, and what it doesn't do is say Johnson wouldn't want Brock, who already rates high, because he has Williams, whom he faces the unknown feasibility of fixing, which is what I was responding to.

I saw that one and the one he did with the pastor and QB coach but wasn't sure if he did another one. I do recall him saying how he enjoyed how annoying Ricky was lol.

Brady has been on record that if he had guys who couldn't do what he wanted that he flat out wouldn't throw them the ball. Inconsistency at WR was a huge issue for him and he's the greatest to do it.

Nothing looks more ugly in an offense like ours which is timing based than to have the QB and WR be off with each other.

lol not really. We have posters mistakenly trying to link EPA stats directly to future potential. The film tells the real story,...not a single stat that he "did on his own" with "no help." Those narratives are played out as well.

Adding to the list....

are Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers prepared to potentially deal with yet another contract holdout from a star player?

"I hope not," Shanahan said Tuesday at the NFL Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Fla. "I know Brock doesn't want to do that. We don't want to do that. I mean, no one wants to do that. But these are negotiations that go on between agents and our organization, and it's over a lot of money and stuff.

"Those aren't just things that you just knock out right away. But I believe that we will. I hope that we do, and hopefully, it won't come in any football stuff."

meh. Doesnt sway anything much. Love has been disparaged in this thread, and he's #4. So what do we make of that?

I suggest watching all of the players (if you have the time to do so), forming your opinion on how they slot in comparison to one another, THEN bringing in or viewing various stats to perhaps justify what you saw.

When it comes to actual, live football, where he truly slots at amongst his peers post-2024 depends on who you ask:

With much less data to chart than his counterpart, I wonder how much more his team is going to have to come towards the middle of the table.

Says the guy that honestly thought Trey Lance could compete with Brock Purdy lol. You've already established you don't know what you're watching
