Phase 1 of the offseason activities start on April 21st. Phase 3 (OTAs) start on May 27th. If we hit OTAs and a deal is not done, then start to worry.
Aiyuk didn't get ghosted by Paraag until mid-May last offseason.

I hope my theory is wrong. I also hope we see a deal signing announcement next week. no need to push this up against the limit to argue over 5-10$mil a year.

It may not be the dollar amount. Often times these holdups involve details such as bonuses, how the money is spread out and option clauses.

he deserves what he's worth. he's worth Lawrence / Love money. easily.

Even if Lawrence / Love aren't worth Lawrence / Love money???

Love's maximum before they can get out of the contract is a hair under $50M from what I'm seeing, btw. All the prior years are much less. HE has a cap hit under $30M this coming year. After his contract year this year, I'd gladly take that for Purdy?

I'm glad that you are not working in the 49ers front office then. I hope we can sign Purdy to a reasonable contract, but I don't understand so many fans that just say "Pay Him".

As 49er fans, shouldn't we all want to have him signed for the lower range of QB's so that the team has more $ to spend on other players? Having an extra $10 Mil per year that we don't have to pay to our QB means that we have $10 Mil available each year to spend on other positions. I'm not understanding how that is a bad thing.

Unless you are Purdy's immediate family..... why do so many fans want to sign him to the higher end of the QB range? Maybe I'm missing something, not sure.

Agreed.

This is just a product of how fans feel about their QBs generally and a difference of opinion about how good Brock actually is.

Why worry when he is under contract?

So was Brandon Aiyuk & we could have franchised him after that. How did that work out?
You can name the 4-6 players that the franchise tag has been used over the past how many years, however, what has been the norm & common theme is that players get extended in the final year of there contract over and over & yet, common sense evades some of you.

Yup, I also don't think the average fan understands how much an extra $5-$10M a year to spend on vets or help resign players is a lot. You can get a few solid players to bolster your depth with that. You can resign players easier with that.

I expect we will pay Brock but hopefully it's a value deal… not for any other reason than it will help us bolster the roster and compete better

Good god you are annoying. The concern is that you have ownership, Lynch, Shanahan, and Purdy wanting a deal done before OTAs. They want to get the extension done and that's the deadline they've set.

They didnt set any deadline. You're making stuff up. Lynch himself said he's making "no guarantees" or promises it will get done by then.

I'm annoying because I'm not allowing you to make stuff up out of thin air. I know.

The onus is on Purdy. He's under contract and he cannot accrue a year if he holds out for too long.

I know you may not like the truth, but it is what it is...

They've said they want to get the deal done before OTAs. That is a deadline. It's not a hard deadline. It's a soft deadline. If any moderators are reading this thread, do we have a suggestion forum to request a vocabulary captcha test be added to the site before posting?

The average fan has no idea how the salary cap works. Even in this comment section... How many people are advocating that we shouldn't pay Purdy "50M" because they believe the team will eat 50M cap hits every year of the contract?

1) You said deadline and you're now switching to something else that I trimmed off.

2) It's not a deadline at all. It's a goal or a target date. It's simply something they like, as those workouts are not mandatory.

If you have any quotes I missed where they said they "need to" have a deal done by _____,....please post it. I'll leave open the chance that I missed something, but chances are it's more of the same exaggeration we're getting day in, day out here.

The dates to worry about (for Brock) are mandatory minicamp days,...as missing them are fineable offenses.... and mandatory training camp reporting (for accrual while still on a rookie contract),...though with how many here have been worrying nonstop since the season ended, I know that the anxiety will stay strong throughout the entire process.
