I agree, we aren't going to keep any players that aren't putting out. From the team level, we better be trying. From the manager level, we sputter, or we put all the bad stuff in one year, and move on more quickly and much more advantageously. Owners look at value, and they think longer term than coaches. I know I'm in the minority, but I feel very strongly we do Not have an elite coach. We have an elite Offensive Coordinator, who is not above average in Any HC responsibilities beyond that. His affinity to favorites, and absolute crap judgement on paying Anything to keep them, has destroyed our position and put us in this situation. Who has won a SB with $81m in dead cap? Face facts, and get real. We're arguing about a few more or less $m for Brock, all of which is well into future years, is going to make a difference, in a year we are paying $81m in dead cap. Maybe later, that will matter. Later, it will be less vs the cap.
That
If you think you can't win if you pay Brock $50m per year average, almost all of it well down the road, but you can win with $81m in dead cap Now, this year, yup, we'e reloading.
seems pretty clear we went all in with brock on the rook deal. a guy like hargrave was the #1 FA of the offseason that year. we were going in on guys. but we didn't get it over the line. can't go all in like that forever. eventually the rent comes due. it's smart to get it all in now as you say. we still have a QB1 on $5m for 2025.
No, that $5m will be averaged into probably another 4 years, making it a 5 year contract that will be much lower than the 4 years would be if we put it off after this year. Try to build your team on free agents and trades, and just bring in Dan Snyder. Everybody, and I mean Everybody knows that doesn't work. That's why Everybody says you build through the draft, but everybody doesn't do it. That way makes you the highest bidder, on an older player, with a higher injury rate, in a different system, with different teammates, and from a team that knows him best. Just go to Vegas.
The Patriots did pretty good, just bringing in reasonably priced free agents to fill holes. Players that got big heads like BA, they let walk. Don't overpay for talent, and don't overpay for age. And don't have leaders with lack of confidence that they Need individual players to bail them out. We do.
