I don't want to see us pay him and then regret it. I don't like the long term contract for him, yet. I don't think he is a guy with ""nothing left to prove". In fact, I think the opposite in that he has much more to prove before making giving him elite QB money.

I am sure Mac will get a chance to show us what he has got but BP is still gunna get paid

I really just don't even understand the takes anymore.

BP has much more to prove! Small sample size
Same ppl that were upset that Sam left and that he "was elite"..but he shat himself all over the place in the playoffs

Disagreement is okay.
This thread is full of regurgitated trash takes inspired by glorified errand boys claiming to be former nfl executives. Same trash different day. Brock will get paid, he will take the team as far as the roster allows and he has nothing left to prove. The sooner folks absorb that the better. Any qb needs players around him for the team to succeed. Let's see what they get him…

I'll bite. What do you think he has to prove? That he can dominate and win games with an injury plagued offense missing key pieces with a defense that can't stop the run or hold leads and a special teams that's good for one horrible play a game minimum?

And for the record if you dig into Mac Jones' leadership stuff from the NFL...it's not pretty. I live in NE and get lots of Patriots info on the local news and most of my friends/family are Pats fans. That is not a quality that jumps at you from Mac Jones.

Also for like the millionth time, the whole 50M+ annually thing is a red herring. Cap hits are the only thing that matters as is guaranteed money if things go south.

49ers in this ownership/front office(Paraag) has given out the highest QB contract twice now and both times they protected themselves from disaster pretty well. I expect them to do it again.

Sure he will get paid. I did a little research and apparently for the QB it's a sellers market. You got guys like Dak getting straight paid by Doofus...I mean Dallas and that sets market values.

Dak is not worth more than Mahomes and hell Mahomes isn't even paid in the top 10. That's bananas! Kyler Murray at 46m annually. Is BP better? Arguably.

Anyway I guess that's just today's avg salary for a top 15 QB more or less. I'm not saying BP is merely top 15 but he's at least top 10 I think.

This.
my favorite recent event is the local radio hosts on glorious KNBR clowned on chris simms for thinking brock is not top 10. they then proceeded to go through and name their top ten. they did not name brock.

I'm not sure why people are angry with Simms saying Brock isn't top 10? I think if you talked to most unbiased fans/coaches/gms, Brock is a fringe top 10 at best. He's in that 10-15 range

That really isn't how new contracts work though so I don't know what the point of his segment is.

Pretty simple stuff, isn't it?

Looking forward to the draft

He said nobody in the league thinks he's top 10. There's no way for him to know this. Even if that's true, these are the people that think Anthony Richardson and Trey Lance are QBs with elite potential. They thought the 2021 draft was an all timer for QBs

So even if Simms could prove what he said, it doesn't really matter because the people in the league clearly don't know s**t about qb play

These are the QBs I believe you can't make a rational case for Brock being better.

Mahomes
Allen
Lamar
Burrow

After that you have a list of guys who are better than him but you can see someone make a case for Brock being better for a couple of reasons - like playoff performance, age, overall play and in some cases larger sample size.

Stafford
Herbert
Daniels
Stroud

Then you have guys who can be listed easily above Brock by some and behind by others.

Hurts
Dak
Love
Tua
Murray
Lawrence
Smith

The too early and not enough success
Nix
Maye
Williams

Personally I'd have him at 9/10 depends which way I'm feeling that day.
