Lol..... and you rounded down the TDs and rounded up the INTs

QB A. 3700 yards 36 TDs 9 INTs
Mostly BA,Kittle,CMC and Juan Jennings

QB B. 3969 yards 35 TDs 10 INTs
Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Brent Jones and Rickey Watters

Worst Puzzle ever, we all know that was Steve Young during the Super Bowl run in 94.

We don't know if Purdy can be consistent for an entire season like this

but

We are getting close to Steve Young level play and that is pretty awesome since this team does not have a Jerry Rice.

One may argue you would need to account for era. Those 35 TDs led the NFL, and only two other guys had more than 30. But still, it's excellent football, no question.

True

but

One could also argue the current 49ers offense is probably one of the few current offenses that are closer to an era match as what Young ran.

In terms of diversity and talent, hell yeah it's close. Not to mention similar scheme. Ricky Watters and William Floyd were a lot like McCaffrey and Juice. The only real difference is that instead of a great WR and great compliment the 1994 team had the GOAT.

lol change your name to ridiculous49er because your posts are f**king ridiculous.

You stopped reading because you were dead wrong hounding me all the time when I was TELLING YOU we could use an upgrade @ the QB position.

Right now, after an offseason where no one really wanted Jimmy G, we're seeing a rook upgrade the QB position.

You were 100% wrong all this time. It's been proven. But yea, go run.

1-0, advantage random. It's Undeniable.

Purdy I'm still undecided on longterm on, say, an average roster with an average playcaller. But he looks like a legit starter on this roster if nothing else.

If you're ready to sell him to the board as an 8-time Pro Bowl selection in the future, feel free to do so. I'm not quite ready for all of that just yet.

Brock had Deebo coming wideopen in the middle on a pick play too. We have lots of weapons

always downplaying Purdy's success by attributing it to others. it's f**king comical at this point.

My favorite is...look at all his weapons! The same weapons all our QB's had. I'm now a believer. He's not a one hit wonder.

Literally only one other QB had this set of weapons and we were told constantly that he wasn't the one holding back the offense. We were told that Kyle just didn't want his offense to score more than 24 points a game or score TDs instead of FGs. The offense is significantly better with Purdy, a 7th round rookie, under center than it ever was with the prior QB, so Purdy deserves a lot of credit for that. It's still easy to see where this offense could be even better and it seems extremely possible that Purdy gets us there eventually.

One day when Brock is on top of the league random is gonna pull a Trump and say, "What I meant to say is 'But I DO think he does have loads of talent.' Kind of a double positive."

It has been a long time since we had a guy that can just throw the ball on the goal line

It's been so long I honestly forgot what it was like.

I wanted to say something like We haven't been able to score by throwing in the redzone like this since..... and my mind drew a blank.....

Could not be since Steve Young....

Maybe Garcia?

Since Garcia?

Probably since Garcia.

It is crazy....

If we win in the playoffs, and if we make it back to the Super Bowl, and if we face the chiefs again... I would think we have an easier time in the redzone this time around.

Even Garcia didn't have this type of composure and efficiency though. So yes I'd say since Young. Feels strange to even type that lol.

I genuinely think Purdy has a lot of special traits that we don't know how to measure yet. The way he plays is just.. contagious.
he has the huge benefit of being a rookie and being on a team where he doesn't have to do anything but be a QB. Not the face of the franchise, not the reason we win, not the reason for XYZ! He can go out there and just think about football and how to be the best offense we can be.
that is wayyyyy more impactful than people realize.

Agreed 100%. It's been that way throughout the history of the NFL though. There are always players who lack ability in the traditional metrics, but more than make up for it with the intangibles. You see it when you watch it, but you can't measure it.

I would also add that Purdy's athleticism is very underrated. His 10 yard split is elite-level even for skill positions and you can see his explosiveness in and out of the pocket. He just lacks that long speed that you need for a good 40 time so lazy fans and analysts dismiss that part of his game.

I'm not ready to annoint him too fast. Just a couple months ago people were saying our last QB was better than Josh Allen.

I was arguing amongst a number of the same posters here saying that's completely nuts. If you dont believe it,...I'll link you up, lol.

Things get kinda crazy in here with run-away rhetoric and you're labeled as a "hater" for bringing things back down a level.

I love Brock. Don't let boast chasing me around offset what the truth is. He just loves to do that.

i never posted this made up screenshot youre posting. i stand by what i said about Jimmy. the injury is why he wasnt brought in by another team.

btw this has nothing to dowith Brock Purdy. why are you deflecting and distracting away from your stupid comment?

[ Edited by boast on Jan 8, 2023 at 6:28 PM ]
For anyone who says "it's the team" - should realize that it is a HUGE benefit to us. That means Purdy doesn't have to think about guiding this team to win, we are too talented, he just needs to focus on solely the QB role.

we benefit by his unique skill set and then Purdy benefits from playing with such phenomenal talent around him, as well as play calling/design.

i couldn't be happier! Let's go dirty Purdy!

Lol. We're not getting anywhere close to Steve Young level play,...but the kid looks good.

Sorry? What?

QB A. 68% ...6.3 TD%... 3.5 int%... 8.7 YPA

QB B. 67% ...6.7 TD%... 2.7 int%... 8.0 YPA

Different eras.

and?

That makes them not similar some how?

Steve Young led the NFL in passer rating

Brock Purdy Leads the NFL in passing rating since week 13.

Their efficiency is similar.

Split hairs all you want, the 49ers are getting franchise QB type production out of Brock Purdy.

The point is if you put Steve on this team, his 35 TDs probably become 45, his 10 INTs probably become 7. His 3,969 yards probably become 4696. And regarding passer rating, Steve didn't just lead the NFL. He set the NFL record in that stat.
