not just you. your eyes are not lying to you on this one.

JG is a middle of the field expert and lived there until he panicked and would throw a late pass to the flat as a bail out or take a sack/make a WTF throw.

Purdy looks like he has better timing within the play all around. He threatens the outside, when he moves its not just happy feet and keeps going through reads even with a defender in his face. He's also way more accurate, there have been so many drops by our receivers where the ball hits both hands.

The biggest tell about this offense is that Kyle hasnt hesitated to put the ball in Purdys hands in clutch situations. I think it was the Raiders where Kyle called 3 straight pass plays within the 5 yard line rather than trying to run it in. Conversely when they were backed up to the endzone Kyle also called pass plays rather than running it from the danger zone. I can guarantee there wont be another 8 total pass attempt play off game this season. Purdy has had some bad passes but not any of the WTF did you see ones.

This is the best part. His bad throw is more if a timing thing. Not throwing to a linebacker lurking in coverage hahaha.

You can correct the timing, the vision thing I'm not sure if it gets better. I mean maybe there's a reason that Jimmy G didn't play at a Div 1 school, no?
Letsgetit, kid.

We certainly have a better team now than we did then.
NFL Research: Brock Purdy has thrown multiple pass touchdowns in six straight games, joining Justin Herbert (seven straight in 2020) as the only rookies with a streak of six-plus such games in NFL history.

but...but...but Justin Herbert is super talented. Brock, not so much.
4 sacks today. Normally, I would consider this a negative.

But, after last week, it seems like he's been coached up to take a sack rather than make a risky throw.

I like how quickly he takes in the new info. That said, hope he will find a middle ground as I miss gunslingin Brock.
LFG, BP!

I think it's pretty telling also that most posters here agree with all this. Of course there are the loud few who seem to be blind to what's happening, but the fact we see more consecutive replies like this all agreeing and expounding on each other vs every comment resulting in arguments is telling. I hate to get ahead of ourselves and try to calm my optimism, but I can't help but feel like we are watching the birth of something purdy special here.

The kid may not have the physical tools that seem to be coveted these days at the QB position. It's hard not to admire those physical traits when you watch someone like Josh Allen effortlessly drop in a 60 yard dime. But the mental tools are what really win you games. Having both is great, and rare. Joe Montana didn't have a great arm. He wasn't super tall or big. He wasn't fast. He played mentally fast and smart. He was accurate. Not saying Purdy is Montana, but playing mentally fast and smart and being accurate are what is making him successful as well. Tom
Brady, same deal. If the last 6 games are an accurate depiction of Brock Purdy, we may be the next dynasty.

But they did it differently. Purdy has made this all happen within shanahans system. Not playing "backyard ball". I'll admit that i was crazy about Jimmy after that but Purdy has just done it differently, regardless of what the stats say.

both played awesome but Purdy played awesome within a system, Jimmy struggled as soon as he started playing in it and the got hurt. He's never been the same since.

It's been a pretty great show, hasn't it? I haven't enjoyed watching a 49ers season this much since 1994. It feels like a movie script. Very surreal. I think it's been so hard to believe that people can't help but be skeptical, doubtful and argue about anything they can.

And there is a KEY difference between the two.

TD-INT....
7-5 vs 13-4

This is not a trivial difference.

I also feel like passer rating was left out of this intentionally.

On the games that Purdy started he had 11TD and 2 Int.
He threw another 2TDs and 1 Int against the Dolphins and another Int against the Chiefs in week 7.
