Based on his play in the NFL this season, I do not agree with the opinion that Purdy has a tendency to leave the pocket too early.

Also based on his play in the NFL this season, I hold the opinion that Purdy leaving the pocket early, when it occurs, has not had a material negative impact on the team's offensive success.

Also based on his play in the NFL this season, I hold the opinion that Purdy was drafted far too late.

Also based on his play in the NFL this season, I hold the opinion that Purdy has the skills, desire, and savvy to win a Superbowl with the 2022 Forty Niners.

I agree with all four opinions. Also based on his play in the NFL this season, I hold the opinion that his draft scouting report was tragically incorrect and, therefore, do not assign it, or any assertions therein, any evidentiary value.

He doesn't leave the pocket early but he does have the tendency to spin out to his left which reduces the field space in which he can throw efficiently. I know a lot of it is dictated by the direction of the pass rush (thanks McGlinchey) so he doesn't have a choice but I feel in crunch time if he does this and tries to force a throw it could come back and bite him like it did vs the Raiders on that Kittle throw…I'd prefer he just step up in the pocket and make a throw or just get rid of it…

Pillorying.

You're right. Purdy is perfect and has played flawlessly on every play. You'll say that you don't believe that, but then whenever someone implies anything other than that you go off the handle.

Why do you always go to the extreme? Why create a position to argue against that no one is taking? This is why you get the types of responses that you get. No, he's not flawless. Again, you stated that he has a tendency to leave the pocket too early. I disagreed. You asked how many examples you needed to provide to prove it's a tendency. I said 8. You said that's too many, so I said 4.

Find 3 more or just admit that it's not an actual tendency.

Prove to me that you're willing to engage in the discussion in good faith by providing me 4% of your total posts that display a willingness to accept evidence that contradicts your current position. Otherwise, why should I spend the time to track down clips just to prove to you that my opinion meets your standards of validity? I already provided you one glaring example that was readily available and you were instantly dismissive of it. I don't see what I'd get out of providing more.

The difference is I'm not in here trying to make the point that I have a "willingness to accept evidence that contradicts my current position." So why would I need to try and prove that? YOU, on the other hand, ARE trying to make the point that Purdy has a "tendency to leave the pocket too early," hence my response that I don't agree. And why I'm asking for more than one example. Instead of just giving those examples (or admitting you are wrong), you are again creating an argument that isn't there.

Not to mention it also appearing on his scouting report and being mentioned by other 49ers analysts. Just a ridiculous attempt to censor all criticism and discussion like you used to do with Jimmy. Only a matter of time before you start accusing people of being in the Purdy Haters Club (if you haven't already).

How are you being "censored"?

Did I say I was? I pointed out what Furlow does and he's openly called for a number of posters to be banned when they've argued with him (and haven't been because they didn't do anything wrong).

It's disingenuous to pull one word out of context and then intentionally use it to misrepresent what someone has said.

wait a second. i just read the entire threaded discussion (the context) your reply was pulled from. nowhere in it does furlow or anyone call for a poster to be banned. you just make this claim out of the blue.

Just a ridiculous attempt to censor all criticism and discussion

I'm not going to get into this with you and fill up a thread about Brock Purdy with more absurd nitpicking where you only accept only the most rigid definitions of a word. I think calling for people to be banned in the past does count for attempting to censor them, but in the context of this particular post, censor refers to trying to force people to meet a ridiculous standard of proof whenever they post an opinion that you disagree with in an attempt to discourage discussion or dissenting opinions.

Disagree with that all you like, I'm not going to pursue it any further, but you should ask yourself if it's worth your time to continue going through every post with a fine comb looking for things to be triggered by.

You're changing the definitions of words now, rather than just admitting you were wrong? Okay.

And again, 8/170 is hardly a "ridiculous standard" for the word "tendency." I even reduced it to 4/170. Still waiting for 3 more examples, or are you also changing the definition of the word tendency?

Call me crazy but we need to at least hold posters accountable to the standard of the dictionary definitions of words. If we don't have that, then these exchanges have no value whatsoever.

8/170 is a ridiculous standard. Brock Purdy had 1500 college attempts. If I said that he had a tendency to do the same thing in college, would you want 75 different examples?

75 examples of leaving the pocket too early, over the course of 4 seasons, works out to about 19 per season, or under 2 per game. So yeah, if you're going to say he has a tendency to leave the pocket early I don't think it would be crazy to ask for 1-2 examples per game.

You'd rather fill up the thread with all of this stuff than discuss football stills with arrows?

Do I have that correct?

Depends what the stills are and what the arrows are pointing to. If they are stills of Kittle dropping a ball that hit him in his shoulder, with arrows pointing towards his shoulder, then no, I would rather discuss the definitions of words with Ring.

I already covered this. I am not stating the opinion that I have or don't have "a willingness to accept evidence that contradicts my opinion," so that is not a topic here. You are trying to create it though, so as to distract from the ACTUAL topic, which is Brock Purdy. And your stated opinion that he has a "tendency to leave the pocket too early." I disagree, so I'm asking you for more than just one example.

And then would dismiss the opinion if they didn't provide those 75 different clips (possibly a ton of work) done for free just to prove an inclination to bail from the pocket in certain situations? Doesn't seem worth it.

And I'm asking why I should go through that effort when you haven't shown a willingness to adapt your position based on evidence? I don't have access to the All-22, nor have I kept time stamps of every play in anticipation of some future argument, so finding every clip of the examples that I've observed that lead me to that opinion is not easy. You don't seem to respect that or understand why someone might not want to go through that effort for no reason to prove something to someone who has never shown a willingness to engage in good faith or accept how someone could form an opinion that does not match their own.

I don't recall you making the point that he had a tendency to leave the pocket early in college. In fact, you said "if I said that.." so I was assuming you were just being argumentative about the percentage of plays required to call something a tendency. What would you say is a fair percentage of plays to call something a tendency? Because so far you're offering 1/170.

This guy.

Can't wait to not see him in a Niners uniform anymore.

If I'm the DC and I have the choice of either sending my best DE against MM or TW I'm sending him up against MM EVERY time. MM has played very well this season. In fact, the entire o-line has upped their collective level of play as the season progressed.
