As a Niner fan since the 70's, I can say its been a long, long time since I've had this much fun watching the games. There have been some bright spots, enough to give hope. But nothing like this Purdy kid. Man, I've got jeans older than him. Wherever this season goes, I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

100% this. I think what we can ALL agree on is that Jimmy (because of his age and contract demands) is out of this equation. We will be left with the cheapest and one of the best overall QB rooms in the league next season, which will allow us to afford to extend all of our stars. Purdy's emergence is a HUGE development for this team.

Personally, I will eat a good helping of crow because I did not feel that Jimmy was holding the offense back. He clearly was. Now, I think a lot of that has to do with his personality rather than his talent, but the results are clear. Purdy Kyle >>>> Jimmy Kyle. For whatever reason, Jimmy Kyle just couldn't quite get over the hump, and I don't just mean the Super Bowl. They just didn't have that "magic" that it takes for sustained success. Purdy Kyle has that magic quality to them.

Oh I've eaten plenty of crow over the years in here lol. Debating is fine, but owning up after the fact should be part of the deal imo.

I just don't see why it's either Brock is great and Lance blows or the other way around. I gave Jimmy 4 yrs before coming to the conclusion that we needed to look elsewhere. People are giving Lance 3 games and Brock 6 games to come to conclusions on who they are and that's foolish. I'm just happy that we got some young blood in here that can grow/develop…we will see how it all shakes out later.

But his scouting report says he has a weak arm.

there should be apologies along with that feast of crow

as for conclusions.. maybe ring is the only one trying to draw conclusions.. but there shouldn't be overreactions and denial over one play.. it's just one play lol

I've tried to make the distinction that it's possible Jimmy is a better player than Purdy but Purdy is playing better than Jimmy ever has with this specific team, and it's possible that Purdy is better than Lance right now but Lance will be better in a year or two…

Point is… just because a QB is producing more than another QB at this moment, it doesn't mean they'll always produce more at another point in time.

Oh… I really liked Trey Sermon coming out of college. LOL

Other than that I've been pretty good predicting draft picks (Lance, Hurd, Hufanga, Aiyuk) and FA's (McKinnon).

I still give NY a hard time about our Mahomes debates.

49erRing, have you ever been on a podcast? Just wondering what kind of credentials you have on QB evaluation. I have never been on one so don't take what I say seriously.

I'm trying to hide your posts, but it's not working. Seems like a flaw in the design.

This man trying to block a mod

Welcome! Good to see folks with long term perspective recognize BCB's command of the field and the offense. It sure is fun to watch!

Don't forget the Thomas debates! Yeah I agree making a declaration on who will be who (years from now)based off right now is silly.

Haha Kyle's finally gotten some luxury @ the main position.

And unbeknownst to the usuals here that are devoted to fighting like they're paid player representatives, he's going to use every bit of it.

I agree Seattle doesnt have much of a shot but its not because Geno is "absolutely horendous." Geno had a fantastic year, even if you arent comparing it to his expectations.

While we're sharing, I'm on record saying I wouldn't want to go into '23 with a QB room of only Purdy and Lance right after the Garoppolo injury. Can I have a do-over?

It was more of a general statement, I haven't been reading what everyone was arguing about…assuming it's the same as always.

Good year, not fantastic.

True. Random strongly preferred Trey over Brock. I am not sure about Ring.

When was this?

I'll spare you the time: It's "Lost-Argument-Syndrome" where you feel the need to make up stuff later on and even in a different thread to recover.

Defeating an argument that has no backing whatsoever doesn't put me on either side of an issue, belief-wise.

Random strongly prefers Shanahan choosing the main guy he wants and developing him.

While I'm certainly excited to see Trey with players like CMac and Kittle added to the fray, I have no need to prefer one over the other. The coach is around them, designs his own offense, and envisions what it should look like @ Its peak.

Unlike how you see things, nonsensical in my view to feel the need to pick 1 out of 2 young guys for him. IMO there's no need.

Very relaxed and enjoying the process,...allthewhile having a good laugh at the ones with the "camp mentality" that feel the need to hunker down and stick to one or the other.

With all this concern over what "I" want or don't want even though I always clearly state why, can the game of changing what I've previously said?
