I was a fan before Joe and those were some tough times. But what a pleasure to see Montana start and grow as our QB. That first year was painful, but there was something there, you could feel it. This kid Purdy has that fire in his belly. His growing pains may not be a difficult as '79, but there will be mistakes and a learning curve. In all my years of watching football I've never seen a perfect game although a couple of Joe's Superbowls came close. It's great to watch the games again and know we always have a chance to win.
He does have that fire in the belly, I noticed it in the Miami game. Just somethin was there. One of my favorite memories was watching that 55-10 wipeout in XXIV. I would say that was close to perfect as a game could be..for us anyway lol.
