Haha yes it would have

I feel for BA - could have been a signature moment

And he knows it too, the look on his face and how he just laid there, man I feel bad for the guy.

But this has been an ongoing thing with him. He is great at catching the ball out in front of his chest or higher. The rest of his catch radius has been very spotty throughout the season. Hope he puts that work in during the off season.

He does this little hop when he catches the ball in the open field too. Like VD used to. Loses a step or two.

There was only like 2 or 3 posters who really wanted that.

Good luck taking away a scramble out of the pocket with a huge downfield throw.

It's been done before with mobile QBs. Now it's not something you can eliminate but you can ganeplan for itwith a spy or keeping DE's out wide.

That instant change of direction and quickness is something a lineman can't learn. They're just too big and lumbering.

i thought VD's catch was the catch 3?

Correct.

Anyway, the Catch has to be a TD reception in a game winning drive at the end of the game, so it really can't be "The Catch 4".

I think I have a good name for this play. "The Incompletion". Doesn't have the same type of weight but describes the play well.

They have had many weeks to do so, and Pete Carroll would be the one to have found it this past game. Yeah you will get him a few times, but you are not going to stop all of them.

And that right there is the key. You want, in this offense, a QB that can distribute to the playmakers, and then take 1-4 shots at big plays. If you hit on 1/3 or 2/4 you are rolling. Purdy seems to bring this element.

And people are talking like he's at his ceiling. He may be. But he could also still get better with experience, too. Which should scare the hell out of the NFL.

Just imagine he played a full game at just his current best. If he played the first half like how he played in the 2nd half, he might have scored 1 or 2 more TD and pass for 100+ more yards.

That is already more than a high enough ceiling.

Why not just let them compete in camp. Would be good for both guys pushing each other to be better. I'm greedy, I like both of them. I think Kyle does too.

Correct x2

There's another term we can start using to get away from adding more sequels to "The Catch", start using "The Throw".

"The Dog"

"The it"

We have The Catches. Yesterday to the corner to Aiyuk should be The Drop

yeah, Trey deserves a shot still. kinda sucks for him, but we're in a situation where what we have, is a good problem to have

We still want to see how Purdy does in the rest of the playoff.

The better he plays, at some point you just want Purdy to get all of the 1st team reps in the offseason. Give him what he didn't have and see how great Purdy can be.

I think there are more than 2 or 3. Kyle is going to let them compete. How is Trey going to get better if he's not allowed to compete. That doesn't mean he'll win the competition. That's highly unlikely at this point but they may need him next year if Purdy gets hurt. Let's hope they compete in camp and both of them get better.
