Yes! Not a surprise though, he has elite short distance burst for a QB.

Not sure how keeping both hinders the development of either. Let them both know they are going to compete for the spot and let the chips fall where they may. Ensure that both bring their A game and whoever ends up as the backup becomes a useful trade piece down the road.

I'm all about keeping both. Purdy QB1, Lance QB2. I think giving the assurance to a QB will give our team a clear direction and confidence that would only benefit the team.

No. Trey needs to continue to develop behind the scenes and take advantage when his next opportunity presents itself.

They both do. I hope Lance and Purdy spend the entire offseason working their asses off, trying to be the absolute best quarterbacks they can be. Iron sharpens iron and all that stuff.

Pretty much this

Hopefully Purdy works on his dancing skills in the offseason.

This should put the whole "let Brock and Trey compete during the offseason for the starting job" conversation to rest.

There was only like 2 or 3 posters who really wanted that.

I think there are more than 2 or 3. Kyle is going to let them compete. How is Trey going to get better if he's not allowed to compete. That doesn't mean he'll win the competition. That's highly unlikely at this point but they may need him next year if Purdy gets hurt. Let's hope they compete in camp and both of them get better.

yeah, iron sharpens iron. Trey needs to be given the chance to compete. at the very least for his development and for his reps. even if Brock is the guaranteed starter in people's heads

No. Trey needs to continue to develop behind the scenes and take advantage when his next opportunity presents itself.

so give him equal reps during TC in an open QB competition.

just because Brock is playing well, doesn't mean Lance shouldn't be allowed or given the chance to compete and take the starting job away. Competition is GOOD.

Thing is, even if Lance has the best OTA/camp ever, how can those reps compare to what Brock is putting on film, versus live bullets? I think Lance has to accept that he could very well be the backup and to keep his head down and keep improving, hoping that his chance will come.

I think he will develop into an crafty type Aaron Rodgers runner. He won't run a lot but he will when it's necessity.
Yeah, yeah, competition and all that. But there are a limited number of training reps (especially padded ones) and you can't keep splitting them. That's what being the starter means: you get the majority of those. Not to mention his teammates love him. Why mess with locker room chemistry? If Purdy keeps showing as much promise and poise as he does, he's the starter. I'm all for mixing Lance in for certain packages, but unless injury or performance dictates otherwise this should be Purdy's team.

Finally, it's sunk costs fallacy to think of all the draft picks that went into drafting Lance. So we found our QB in the end of the 7th rather than at #3 overall? So what? The outcomes are identical - we have (what seems to be) an excellent player.

BUT. There's still three more games to win. Let's bicker about all this after we run that streak to 14.

Love it! Need him to chill on those rolling to left scrambles all game though. Teams gonna recognize that, plus he took some pretty big hits trying to by time. Gotta pick an choose when to do that.
Thought the drop in the endzone by Aiyuk was his best play, scrambled then threw a laser to the back corner
Mobile QB tends to get sack a lot. This hasn't been a problem for Brock. A big plus.
Protect Chris Berman at all costs.

Yes. If Purdy keep playing well in the rest of the playoff, I want Purdy to get all of the 1st team reps in the coming off-season like a franchise QB. Sharing 1st team reps is only good if you don't have a franchise QB.

1st team rep in the off-season was something Brock didn't have this season.

At some point you just have to say where the player was drafted completely doesn't matter anymore. And let me ask you this, if Purdy was the 3rd overall pick and played like this, would anyone be arguing that competition is good , let him and the other guy compete?

You are leaving out preseason games.

Yup. That was one of the best games I've seen.
