Well, I have to admit it. For one brief moment I thought, okay, here is a kid that everyone can get behind. He's efficient and mobile buys points on the board.

But have wasted at least a few minutes of my life scanning a ridiculous debate about how many TDs Colin Kaepernick accounted for in his first starts it seem as like this thread is headed towards the same toxic stupidity of every other QB thread this forum has ever had. Oh well.

Yeah, sorry for my part in that.

I haven't been this excited watching the 49ers since the 90s! Great fun!

aleast he is confident in letting it go, we have had too many QBs here in the past that wouldn't let ot go and take a sack or check down.

If we cant discuss the good and the bad from a game then we might as well lock the thread until next weekend.

Why not simply let those that like to discuss what happened, discuss what happened?

Can we choose plays where something bad actually happened to criticize though? Because picking plays that had a positive result to criticize is what creates needless arguments. Just a thought.

Nah. Let's just choose em all. Literally 100% of them are up for discussion,...unless the mods choose otherwise?

Lol okay, dude. 100%. Let's spend time criticizing the wildly successful plays. Sounds like a great forum experience.

Where he belongs.

If anyone missed it - I looked it up. kap had 5 passing touchdowns in his first 5 games. 4 of them against the patriots. He also had 3 rushing

Kap wasn't on that list for political reasons then. Or else just the dumbass making the chart wasn't a 49ers fan in 2012.
Yeah, I usually don't like to go that route but that was my thought. Between his legal preceding and all that happened with the nfl - I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't show it for a reason.

Wish my 27th account wasn't banned from Twitter. I'd love to tell that guy what an eejit he is.

Why must he be listed?

Apparently you started being a 49er fan in 2019. The reason is because he had more than 5 TDs in his first 5 starts as a 49ers QB.

And? What makes him notable?

READ THE TWEET. It says "TDs in first five starts." Kaepernick had SEVEN passing TDs in his first five starts which CLEARLY AND OBVIOUSLY means he belongs on the list. There is not a desk strong enough to withstand the level of headdeasking this discussion calls for.

Except it wasn't a "list." Purdy was being compared to Jimmy, for obvious reasons. Throwing in Montana and Young for effect. Adding Kaep would not have given that graphic better effect.

Yah, Kap would be irrelevant to the comparison. Incumbent QB (of sorts) and Past Greats,

Guess Jeff Garcia should be added for no reason as well.

Meh, he would still be in most memories as the fading flame of the old days. Just speculating, of course.

Don't matter. We have to list everybody I guess.

Pretty sure that says "TD passes in first 5 starts"

I would say Kaepernick is as notable as Jimmy G.

Both got the team to a Super Bowl and lost it.

In a 4 wide graphic CK lost out to Jimmy G due to the similar offense and coach with Purdy.

What would you do with a 4 wide graphic dump Montana or Young?

There really is no reason to expand the graphic to 5 wide.... it adds nothing to the discussion, CK is not a 49er great, hell they probably simply forgot he existed like most of the NFL.

It would be like me throwing out that Steve Bono thew 10 TDs in his first 5 starts for the 49ers. Is it accurate? Yes! Does it matter or effect the conversation? No!
Haha, I never intended to get sucked into anything here. All this over a stupid chart.

I know, I know.... It is almost like Jerry Rice was unstoppable or something......

I am still salty 20 years later....

Missed the playoffs at 10-6, and we were so hot under Bono we could have won a Super Bowl that year.

He doesn't have the biggest arm, but he's functional and really accurate as a passer, too," ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay said in September. "I think he's poised. You can see it. You can tell he's intelligent in processing things quickly. There are times where he gets a little impatient and takes off to run because he trusts that, but that's really common with a lot of young quarterbacks. You can see it. How the hell did he go from a first round prospect to the last pick of the draft? Just shows you how flawed the "system " is.
