If Purdy maintains this level of playing moving into next year, there aren't many QBs in the NFL, let alone Trey, that are beating him out. Furthermore, I fully expect Purdy to improve this offseason with more experience under his belt, another year of strength training and continued work with his QB coach on mechanics.

The BCB is here to stay.

Yeah, as long as he's out there playing like Joe Montana, how on earth could you bench him? I'm a big fan of Trey but I hope Brock never let's him see the field in Red and Gold.

Shanny archived Lance plays he'd drawn up to make room for Purdy plays on his Surface.

I still believe in Lance making that jump to starter. Just have to somehow get his chance after the injury....good to have both guys on the team, and hella cheap on the team cap.

Yup, I'm a huge Trey Lance fan. We have the Joe and Steve show all over again!

I think Trey, as long as he's healthy, is going to give Brock a run for his money this offseason.

Two people with knowledge of the organization's plans = two people not within the organization (or the author would have said so). Sounds eerily similar to the Mac Jones b******t. That said, Brock has the sizable lead on being the starter unless he falters hard.

I actually hope to see Trey on the field in garbage time, after Purdy and the rest of the Niners got themselves a blow out lead in games.

I think it's a combination of what Liberty said and meant to be a way to further motivate Trey.

it's a win/win. Either Trey takes a massive leap and plays. Or we can get a decent trade/awesome backup.

The only way I see Trey being traded is if someone gives ShanaLynch 3 first round picks and a 3rd rounder, otherwise no deal. I don't think thats going to happen.

Now if somehow it does happen, then ShanaLynch will probably draft a QB in the 3rd round.

I definitely think Purdy is QB1 next year outside of an injury, he's earned it that's for sure. He's gonna go into camp taking majority, if not all of the 1st team reps.

We don't need to leak anything, it's pretty evident what's happening here. The FO I'm sure will take calls for Trey, and if there's a really good offer we will trade him.

But the idea that we need to leak that Purdy is the QB next year, like other FOs can't figure this out is silly. And all that would do is diminish his trade value, it's pretty evident by now that this FO isn't stupid.

Sucks for Trey, and I hope he does make it a competition, as that would be good for everyone. The offense is finally, in Kyle's 6th season, running smoothly, and I don't see how they could possibly go backwards. It's Brock's show, he's the franchise QB Kyle has been searching for.

Trey isn't even likely to be ready until later in the offseason from what I understand, so Purdy is going to start as QB1 by default. It's a non-story.
