Also let's not forget what Anthony Lynn said about this organization, they will do whatever it takes to make it and stay at the top, The league is getting better with old heads on the way out and new and upcoming teams on the rise. Uber Talented teams like the 49ers, Cowboys, Eagles will have to fight them off in the coming years. Many teams are only a player or two away to make the next jump. To help stay at the top, the 49ers will need to continue to add difference makers on the DL, in the secondary, and OL. A first round pick potentially brings more value to this team than having a raw Trey Lance on the bench being a cheerleader. If he's not playing and learning from taking his lumps in this league, he is useless to this organization. Use Lance to add a piece that improves our areas of weakness.

Value has to account for what you lose as well. His cap hit is tremendous next season.

Lol, I wouldn't even be mad if this happened, would be the greatest boss move ever.

That would be outrageous and I agree, the biggest boss move ever.

I'd be pissed. Chris Borland except ten times worse.

He'd be a legend, the NFL's only undefeated SB winning QB. Win a Lombardi and flash deuces at everyone and bounce, go move to Costa Rica or something.

Purdy doesn't cost 11 million and neither does Lance. If you guys are going to turn this into a Lance thread because no one really cares about the takes in the real Lance thread at least Google some stuff first.

That line always kills me.....

That line is from John Carvil who was quoting a lost work of Plutarch.....and it is massively butchered

The actual quote for Alexander was something like he wept knowing the endless worlds left to conquer.

Alexander realized how large the planet was, so as great as Die Hard version of the quote is, it is almost exactly backwards.

Haha. Fine dead cap is 11 million for pre June. If you want to know why that number is meaningless I'd be glad to take it up in the Lance thread when I have nothing better to do.

so it begins, and the season isn't even over yet LOL

Hope it ain't Greise, John and Kyle not with that leaking through the ass.

Sounded like Kyle and John doesn't want to say it to the public from their mouth until after this season is over, so they asked other people within the organization to leak this. This happens all the time to set expectation, and see if any teams will call to make a blockbuster trade offer for Trey.

I think it's a combination of what Liberty said and meant to be a way to further motivate Trey.

it's a win/win. Either Trey takes a massive leap and plays. Or we can get a decent trade/awesome backup.

The only way I see Trey being traded is if someone gives ShanaLynch 3 first round picks and a 3rd rounder, otherwise no deal. I don't think thats going to happen.

Now if somehow it does happen, then ShanaLynch will probably draft a QB in the 3rd round.

It's not gonna take that much, and no team would do that anyways. If there would be serious trade talks, probably looking at one or two conditional 1st round picks, and maybe a 4th or a 5th round pick.

Who knows what Trey's value is. Your guess is as good as anybody's. His value can also increase depending how he plays in exhibition or when he relieves Purdy. (assuming he's not traded) which I think is the way the 49ers are going to do. Keep Trey.

Well crap. Thanks Dshearn

Edit: Interesting how often that happens… like Robert Frost and The Road Not Taken. Just what I need… to be more skeptical. Haha. Thanks though!

Nonsense. He can do what Brock did and run the scout team and get reps in games that are decided. If a guy drafted last in the draft can get that good, there's no reason Trey can't improve his game in that way. We've got 11 picks in the draft and Trey isn't going to net anywhere near what we paid for him after being injured twice in two years and not being ready to start. He's the backup until he takes the starting job back, an injury occurs, or we trade him away, if we can find someone who likes him.

Yeah, I think it's extremely unlikely. Only way I see it happening is if someone makes a ridiculous offer (like you mentioned) or Lance forces his way out by requesting a trade and becoming a distraction (unlikely).

I doubt if Lance will force a trade. Kyle is the best Offensive coach in the NFL, and he's the best to develop Trey. Trey would be less than smart to *not* be with Kyle while he's developing. I think Trey has a chance to grow to be a great franchise QB if he sticks with Trey.
