Now if Purdy beats both these guys pretty soundly then I might be able to see why we should move Trey quickly but otherwise we keep both cheap franchise QBs and let the offseason determine who the starter is in 2023

Our roster is clearly better than Dallas',...so that should be no issue. IOW....we dont need Trey to "be better" tonight. We simply need our offense to be better than their defense, and the same in reverse regarding our defense.

Next week is when things even out a bit and we can compare QBs w/suggestions about which one will be the difference in the outcome.

While I respect Jimmy's contributions, it's not worth resigning him if you keep Trey

Good thing we have a front office that knows this. We keep both and we don't worry about a QB injury for two or three seasons while we focus our efforts elsewhere while continuing to develop both guys cheaply. We are talking about guys that are both 22 and 23 years old!

Seriously. Thank God the front office isn't stupid enough to trade Trey Lance. It's like people forget we are on our 3rd string QB this year due to injuries.

The "Trade Trey" group dont want him traded for any reason that would benefit the team. It's just personal problems they have with him.

I like Trey a lot. But if we can get a first for him, and use that to draft a RT who we pay $8-$9m/year rather than pay McGlinchey $18-$20m/year, and use the rest to help re-sign Bosa and Aiyuk, it's a win. Plus it gives Trey a chance to develop rather than sit, which is better for him, so it's win/win. If you're truly a fan of Trey then you don't want him sitting the bench for the Niners.
Some of them clearly want to bench Purdy and play Trey instead.

Who? Haven't seen one person saying that.

Btw what was your username before this?

Ring, NY, etc.

I have not changed my username. Not sure what you are trying to say.

I still like this one. Gets me every time..

it is almost a catch-22

If Trey is not upset about being benched....you almost DON'T want him.

You want a guy who is not happy sitting on the bench, if I was in the Front Office.... I would want to trade him even less if " he asked for a trade".

He hasn't been benched and until next season it is all pure guesswork. As for Purdy being qb1 for years to come, check the injury thread and see how things go for this team. Personally I want to keep them both. If it wasn't for the salary cap I would want to keep all three of them.

Bench Purdy for a guy that is injured and recovering?

Weird, weird obsession here with Trey. We have a game today...lol.

Regardless of this game, we should feel very lucky to have just fallen into one of the best qb rooms in football.

Agreed 100%. Some had weird obsession with Trey.

agreed, but I think he could be an NFL TE

He'll be a QB1 with someone, just got to work on that accuracy.

Accuracy is a pretty important skill at QB.

Clearly he's talking about next season, as the discussion was about whether to trade Trey. Which we can't right now.

There will be no battle. Purdy has already delivered. He is QB1 this season and next. Kyle ain't going to sit Purdy to let Lance have another chance. Lance did not measure up in his 3 starts and a few cameo plays. He was too raw and the moments were too big for him. Unlike Lance, Purdy can play in the rain. He had his "monsoon game" last Saturday and faired well.

I would think Lance's agent will be working on a release of contract or ask for him to be traded so he can start somewhere but on another team. There is no way Lance will be starting at the 49ers again bar injury to Purdy.

all of this is on point

Imagine thinking that will actually be an option

I know!
There is absolutely no way we trade Trey… (obviously unless we got a 1st & 2nd or something like that)

Just doesn't make sense to at all. So many negative variables could happen to Purdy that if we'd get rid of Trey and didn't have a GREAT backup situation, it would be the dumbest move ever.

Maybe in his first couple of stars that might have been said, but those posters and everyone else have only said to have a competition during camp as of now. While I don't agree with that either, I think Purdy should and will be QB1 next season. He's been great and has earned it.

The trade is possible like you said if the comp is good. But that guy said that his agent will be working on a release, like that's even a damn option.
It's going to be crazy having to pay our starting QB so little over the next few years. We can keep this team together and add more talent even.

You did made a good point that some of them have could have change their mind in the last couple of weeks. Purdy's amazing performance might have finally convinced them that Purdy is miles and miles ahead of Trey.
