QB Brock Purdy Thread

I love how no one in the media believes in Purdy. Proving doubters wrong is part of the joy of sports.

Yes I agree. He's way above that.

It's outrageous. But they will learn.
You know what Brock has? Wisdom.

Wow a journalist admit he was wrong about Purdy!? The world must be coming to an end. Kudos to this journalist.

Hahah I think kittle kind of left him out to dry on this. McG gets a worse wrap than he deserves. I actually hope we resign him. We could be a lot worse and he's an awesome locker room guy.

The scouting trade is fundamentally broken. Scouts are terrified to f**k up. So they elevate players that are less likely to get them fired — traits over fit and production. They're scared people making scared recommendations.

This is also how you get god awful draft takes in this form about mediocre players like Goff, Trubisky and Zac Wilson. It's nonsensical to have a strong opinion about a player in such an obviously flawed evaluation. It's literally all a complete guess.

Purdy is just more proof that draft scouting is a social media game, not one deep in material productivity.

Like, I guarantee you some dudes in this very thread are going to lose their minds in the draft form over not picking some dude. Over what? They literally know nothing.
This is a problem in general with people in pensions or at big companies. I work with a lot of national retailers because I work in commercial real estate development and I hate cowards (use reasonable context guys). I have been promoted multiple times and early in my career cause I never took that approach. I have people like this - it's not a life worth living in my opinion… aka living scared and being a yes man.

being a yes man means you just say what others want to hear in order to not get in trouble. I'd rather be homeless and broke (been there as a kid) than be a coward. It's worked handsomely for my career and I hope others choose that route too.

its better be asked to stay in the room on hard decisions because your opinion is respected, instead of not being in the room because everyone knows you won't speak your mind/opinion.

The chart only reflects the calculations. You should trust charts more than numbers just spit out at you because the #'s are put into context.

Your problem would be with AQE, not the chart, FWIW.

But you do realize that he's played less games than most on this chart, right? That accounts for large swings. If you've played 19 games at this point, a game that's not so great isin't going to cause a wild swing in your movement. And that's how it should be.

Here's how he comes up with the #s, just in case you're wondering:

I was weary of you as a poster because I thought you were being a troll at times - but now I realize you actually understand data, charts, and the nuances that put it all together. Regardless if I agree with you or not, I feel better about taking in your posts.

i have a lot more respect for you as a poster, not that it means much, but thought I'd throw that out there. Keep up the quality posts my man.

Yeah it's crazy that no one believes in a rookie QB that was the last pick in the NFL draft.

Let's be real, if Purdy was playing for the Eagles and they had to come to Levi's, everyone here would be talking about how badly he'd s**t his pants as soon as Bosa hit him.

If Purdy balls out and the 49ers win two more games, he'll completely and forever flip the script on how people talk about him.

Like Tom Brady wrote, "prove them right or prove them wrong."

Now that, I agree with. Absolutely. I look at that similar
to if Purdy was a first or second round pick - his narrative
would be that he's the future of the league.

i just choose to enjoy this special moment in nfl history and like the idea of making history. I'll believe it until we lose, if we do.
Purdy has been nothing but awesome and has played very good football but it's hard not to expect him to come back down to Earth at some point. I hope he proves me wrong.

He will! That's what he does for a living!

i think a lot of fans are concerned cause last game was not only his first non-TD game but his first non multiple TD game.

he will bounce back - just have to give credit where credit is due, the cowboys played great defense last week.

Come on, Brock. Just keep the ship moving, get in and get out. Just take care of business then head back home.
