I recall a clip from the play where Purdy rolled right, jocked an outside blitz, and completed a first-down pass to Deebo. DeMeco turned to the defense and said, "Baller man." Warner said, "I'm not surprised." Someone else said, "I am not astonished." Such was the mood.

Yep. Purdy been balling and making the most out of practice/scout team before getting his opportunity. And it showed when he stepped in vs Dolphins.

In our run-oriented offense MM would fit right in. He can also be a runner and will play action pass to keep defenses honest. Shanahan could definitely work with him. Only thing is get him in early to learn the offense.

Matt Maiocco probably a pocket passer though...
Let's keep the Mariota convo in the FA thread. That is as close to this team as I can tolerate him.

Partly tongue in cheek, but maybe we could get by with just Brock and Lance if Kyle never has RT pull , instead of using him to block the Edge. Kyle's use of only the RB to block the Edge was tough on our QBs, esp Brock.

sign Matt Ryan to run the offense and move the team and keep Brock's seat warm if he can't start week 1

Matt Ryan 🤮

Works for Mahomes and the countless other teams that run the same play (including SF throughout the year) Brock's gotta have a better understanding of his protections, depth of routes, and pocket awareness. That comes with more reps.

Yeah he's dunzo.

I'd rather just pick up a QB in draft or UDFA.
No argument , NY. It was tongue in cheek.

True. You can also help out a rookie QB by not calling long developing plays against the best pass rushing team.

Was there a check down? I feel like there was to CMC off the play fake. You can move up in the pocket or just throw it away.

Young QBs trying to make a play, totally get it…he's gotta take care of himself and realize there's life past one play.

All I'm saying is coach can also help his rookie QB protect himself from himself, if he's struggling with protections, depth of routes, and pocket awareness. Especially against an elite defense with elite pass rushing .

Having said that, Kyle is a great coach and don't want him replaced. Don't want people turning this into something else lol

No I get it. Not disagreeing, I feel like that play call in particular had some outs for him. Hopefully he learns from it and gets 100%

Of course because when Kyle calls a run play, he should have called a pass play. When Kyle calls a pass play, he should have called a run play. When Kyle is conservative, he should have been more aggressive. When he is aggressive, he should have been more conservative.

The bottom line is Aiyuk beat the breaks off of Bradberry and if Brock would have stepped up into the clean pocket he had, we are talking about a completely different ball game.

I don't put the outcome of that play all on Purdy. I guess, agree to disagree there.
