Brock after surgery...

BCB---Bionic Commando Brock
young dude getting surgery...

we good
Make no mistake about it: This is Brock's team. That doesn't mean we have to dislike or root against Trey. I know I'm not. He has to the opportunity to take the reins from Brock due to the injury, but this is unquestionably Brock's team.

One almost has to feel sorry for Trey Lance because of how well Purdy has played and the way the team rallied around him. How Lance deals with these next few months will tell us a lot about his mindset and will to improve.

I think we can all agree that Kyle Shanahan is very good with getting the best out of his QB's and designing an offense around them. But if there is one thing he cannot do, it's turn an average QB into a good or great QB. Winston has SUCKED BALLS at every stop he's made in the NFL. We have already seen what average QB's do in a Shanahan offense. They SUCK BALLS.

Does anyone....ever.... turn average QBs into great NFL QBs? I don't think that is a knock on Shanny, I think that is just the reality of the NFL.

Shanny got a 90 QB rating out of Nick Mullins... I don't think Mullins is an average QB, but a 90ish rating for a QB is about middle of the pack this year in the NFL. About what Brady and Rodgers pulled off.

I don't think it will be too big of a stretch to say Jimmy G is somewhere below good and somewhere above middle of the pack IE average when it comes to being a QB and he had Jimmy G in the top 5 for QB rating this year.

I think being good at getting spurts of above average QB play from his QBs is about the limit to what Shanny can do. I can't recall any coach including HOF guys that regularly developed average QBs into great QBs. Who am I forgetting?

Do you feel this way or do you think the coaches/players feel this way? I don't know man; I just can't comprehend how anyone can be unquestionably anything after an 8 game sample size and another done for after 4 games. We'll find out I guess. I like both of them and wouldn't be surprised if either one of them is the "guy" of this team to be honest

That's how I feel based on how the team--especially the team leaders-have spoken about Brock. They don't just rave about him; they're ready to fight someone if they slander Brock.

How have past NFL players performed coming back from a UCL injury. So far I can't find anything on anyone being successful after a UCL injury??

Hopefully Brock comes back stronger.
Just so people don't misunderstand because I keep hearing all these Niner podcasters on social media mentioning Tommy John, full-blown TJ surgery is not on the table for this procedure. Anyone who keeps saying Tommy John surgery is either misinformed or talking out of their ass. The people in charge know it's either the internal brace or it's a hybrid reconstruction. One of those two and nothing else.

Right, I know it's not Tommy John, since it's been said they expect him to be cleared in the second week of September.

Well they won't know about the September timeline for sure until he goes under the knife. That's the hope but Friday will tell a lot.

Gotcha. Yeah I see that too; it's different then when they answer questions about Trey for sure.

I don't think I've heard anyone on the team say anything bad about any of the QBs. It's a real tight knit group that has everyone's backs, so I'm not really getting the vibe anyone on the team prefers one over the other. Trey will obviously get his chance and that will be the only factor that determines who we'll roll with moving forward. I do believe had he not gotten injured he would have the upper hand to keep the job, but it's all going to come down to how Trey handles the opportunity he's getting. I feel great knowing if Trey doesn't pan out Purdy's play is strong enough to win the trophy.

The only two well known QB's that I could find who had surgery on their UCL's were Jake Delhomme and Carson Palmer.
