So I'm sure many of you have either heard or heard about Steve Young's take a couple days ago about Brock and the "comparison" that he made to Mahomes. It's now getting around to the national football media and they're collectively losing their effing minds. The problem is he wasn't comparing him straight up to Mahomes as a QB, he was comparing one single aspect of Brock's mentality and makeup to what he remembers about seeing PM in that one start he made the last game of his rookie season (resting Alex Smith). So these idiot talking heads are taking something completely out of context and losing their s**t.

Yeah, it's an absolute joke because that isn't what young said at all. He just said his calmness and poise reminds him of Mahommes as a rookie - because he was so impressed by Mahommes poise. That's all.

Also the off platform style; clearly Mahomes has some tools very few others do.. but when you see a QB doing this.. come on now.. who does this remind you of

Brock Purdy

What happened with that pass?

went down as an incompletion instead of a sack

Kap was way quicker and faster than Trey. That's not even close. Kap has the all time qb rushing yards in a playoff game. So not a good comparison at all.

Trey can run the ball too. You're moving the goalposts. Trey ran for 1k+ yards in college.
Trey is a mobile QB. He has shown he can run outside and make throws on the run. Thats what a mobile QB is as opposed to a statue like Jimmy G or Kurt Warner

Trey mostly ran straight ahead and thru FCS guys at NDSU.

I understand what you're trying to convey.

We often see comparisons to Allen, but I don't really see It. Allen is taller, bigger hands, wingspan, arm length, weighs more, etc. also Allen's mobility is something else for his size. Can you picture Lance doing this?

Edit - wrong thread. I thought this was Lance thread lol

That's because you know how to critically think. Some people In here don't understand being mobile is more than just running forward for yards. Lol

its so weird when debating with someone who just can't get the idea of what you're saying, but still pats themselves on the back.

I'm not saying Trey can't be a great mobile qb, I just don't think he's proven that is the type of player he is. Super small sample size but it's the same size Purdy has and he's shown exponentially more.

anyways. I'm done with this convo and it should be in the Lance thread anyways.

OR Trey hasn't had the opportunities to show those exact type of plays?

You posted all that in this thread. I gave you examples in the Seattle game of him being mobile and elusive and you've continued to disregard them. Just cuz I don't have the time to chop it up into fun little gifs so you can acknowledge them doesn't mean they don't exist.

Now you want to stop talking about it…ok you do you but don't play the "everyone who agrees with me is logical" as you put your head in the sand and pretend Lance isn't mobile.

Do you want him to run backwards? Straight makes more sense to me.

Just because he has to learn the speed of the game so he can do a better job getting outside or learning when to slide, lunge, etc doesn't mean he's not mobile. What a ridiculous notion we're trying to push here.

Yup this guy holding the trophy. I blame him he started it.

Comment blown outta proportion just like most things on TV & social media lol.

I don't think anyone is saying he is Mahomes or on that level of play, or that arm talent, just he saw a flash or two of similarities in their game, I see it also

This is why people don't trust big media - they do stupid things like this and think we are dumb.

Lol yeah they just latch on to drama for entertainment. Some seem to prefer entertainment over common sense, so lol. Drama= $ in media world.

What I like about Brock is that he is not about being/wanting to be a star or "that guy", he's just wanting to compete and play the game. To show his talent and help bring out the best in his team. Lots of respect lol.

And you get the vibe that Trey is trying to be the star or "that guy"? Would love to hear the rationale behind that one…

If I misread your take I apologize.

you seem to be looking for negative Trey posts in everything you read. Montana didn't even mention Trey. lol

The question now is "Has Trey become Mr Irrelevant on the 49er's roster? (Trigger Warning)

Conversation last few pages has been Brock vs Lance as far as differences in their play. I realized maybe I jumped to a conclusion which is why added the potential apology right in my post.

No way. I think Trey is extremely valuable/relevant and has a lot of potential. I may not be his biggest fan but he's obviously talented, high character, hard worker, and intelligent.

Kyles only had one season where his qb didn't go down, odds are that Trey will get a chance sooner than later. Lol regardless - we have two capable QBs and you want to keep it that way for as long as possible.

Naa, he has been great for the team and has definitely helped Purdy along, especially during the Miami game. The thing is..we don't have anyone who is irrelevant, solid team:)
