I give it a solid 8 with the only blemish being tdp in the third. It's challenging to draft late in each round for a pretty deep team. Balke thought he could get value in that position by drafting medical red shirts that would have been taken a round or two higher had they not got injured and that was a disaster. I much prefer this regime's strategy of taking prospects with high athleticism and/or nastiness and relying on the excellent coaching staff to train them up. Also, when you have a scout team that is so consistent at finding players in the back half of the draft with high ceilings it was great to see Lynch and shanahan being patient and not trading up to grab guys a round and a half earlier than the bulk of the league probably had them graded. More picks equals a higher likelihood one of them pops. For those that wanted to see iol prioritized higher in the draft it seemed like almost every round somebody picked a guard or center immediately before our pick. I wonder if that factored. But yeah overall a much more disciplined and solid draft approach than we have seen from these guys in the past in a really challenging draft.
I dont have a rating for any of it but I am excited about our draft and think the front office took talented and high character guys who have potential to positively impact our team over the next three seasons.

i know a lot of people are hard on the RB pick but I think that pick has the best chance on helping us early on.
"C"

+ The Drake pick
+ Some of the later round picks

- Neglected the centre position once again
- Neglected the safety position
- Drafted a back-up RB

I feel that overall, the off-season/draft has been underwhelming to say the least.

It seems like the 9ers we're more concerned about Improving ST and adding talent to compete for back-up positions, rather than focus on Improving the first team.

Ward and Drake are the only ones the team has added this year that will be competing for playing time. The rest will be lucky to see more than 10 snaps per game.

Off-season/draft . Overall grade "C"

Also. Jimmy Is still on the team and Deebo's contract situation.

the fact that they didn't panic and trade up costing future capital is a win for me. The RB pick is the foul taste in everyone's mouth. If that dude pans out this class might be ninja good. I like Womacks instincts to get Pass break ups.. imho, the most underrated stat on defense. Burford looks nasty. If Drake shows promise and the UDFA class has a gem in it.. we're good gentlemen and Ladies
Went 7 due to many of these picks seemingly being penciled in for specific roles. Im not as low on Davis as others but looking forward to having a power back ready to lay the boom. But add in the UDFA's and it feels like Shanalynch have already mapped out what they want with each player. And based on the linemen drafted... they are gonna run the ball nonstop with over the top PA passes. Allot of speed added.

There seemed to be players rated higher at the same positions outside of Drake but go back to any draft 2-3 years ago and look at the top 5s of every position... once you get past 10 it starts to become a crapshoot. Look at the top players in the league and then go redraft their years, things would look very different. So really all this is is an exercise in how close the team got to your own favorite players.
5/10 cause this draft wasn't a strong draft class anyways so I'm keeping my expectations low for all the players selected

The draft of another edge rusher with our top pick did not surprise me in the least. It was a position of need. The 49er defense, despite some stellar performances in the playoffs, was not as good as the unit that reached the Super Bowl in Nick Bosa's rookie season. This is due, in large part, that Bosa had zero help on the other side of the line to take the pressure of double-teams and cut blocks off him. The selection of Drake should, hopefully, solve this problem.

What surprised me, however, was the second position of need. I really think the 49ers should have targeted a linebacker in this draft. The guys we have are very good, no doubt. But health has been an issue with all three of them. The addition of another ball hawker at the LB spot would have helped.

Otherwise, I think the team did well. I'm not at all concerned about Deebo. In fact, I really believe the 49ers should fulfill his request and trade him away. He may get his payday, but he'll find life a whole lot tougher when he no longer has an offensive whiz who can design a game plan that takes advantage of his skills.
Overall im thinking around a c.

I like everything after grey positionally.. I would have looked for idl that can contribute this year. We blew the rb and wr picks. Would rather have ol s cb or iol with picks under 150. Thank you and please.

I think that's why they signed Burks. Good, young special teams player that has untapped defensive potential. Can fill in for Warner, Al-Shaiir, Greenlaw in a pinch.
5.

Oline:
I see 1 great and 4 Tweeners. Tweeners being better than a backup, but not quite starting material.

I see OLine Lite trying to protect a very raw Lance.
Weak protection but plenty of weapons.
7/10

I honestly think they did pretty well for drafting so late and missing picks. I'm not a big fan of RB in the 3rd round again. 2 years in a row. But I think the first 4 can become pretty good players overall. Including even the RB. After that we filled out some depth.

It's a pretty good draft from where we were picking.

Jackson- will play Arden Key role
TDP- will get plenty of rushing attempts. Will be goal line RB
Gray- play deep threat. Probably 10 snaps a game
Burford- potential to be #3 G this year
Womack- depth NB
Fordham G- doesn't dress this year... hopefully
Davis- redshirt year
Castro- Fields- depth CB- ST starter
Purdy- PS year

UDFA- West could be our future Center
- O'Neal key ST player

Overall 7/10... filled depth holes. Added pass rusher. RB depth was important

I feel like we had a solid draft, & UDFAs, I'd say overall, B, not bad for not having a 1st, I was baffled by the RB pick, but getting West as a UDFA makes up for it, also O'Neal, I think those 2 make the 53.

What would a 7/10 be Grade wise, like B, B+, etc....

Also agree with you, good draft, boggled by another back, but ours go down like flies, so we'll see how good he is.

I had Jeremiah Gemmel is one of my initial mocks, so glad we got him as a UDFA, I think he has the 3rd best chance behind West & O'Neal to make the 53.
