I honestly think they did pretty well for drafting so late and missing picks. I'm not a big fan of RB in the 3rd round again. 2 years in a row. But I think the first 4 can become pretty good players overall. Including even the RB. After that we filled out some depth.
It's a pretty good draft from where we were picking.
What would a 7/10 be Grade wise, like B, B+, etc....
Also agree with you, good draft, boggled by another back, but ours go down like flies, so we'll see how good he is.
Maybe about B-. But that's because we picked late. Otherwise we did pretty well.

I'm not informed enough to judge whether a pick is made in the 'correct' place.
I love the first pick and hope he turns into a legitimate bookend for Bosa. I like the idea of a big bruiser in the RB room. I love the idea of a young legitimate speed burner who might allow coach to take advantage of Lance's cannon now and then to keep defenses guessing. I like that they added a couple of interior linemen. And nobody's going to argue with that DT in the sixth - if he's half as good as DJ Jones, he's a find. At this point, I don't see a big problem with any of these guys really.

The only units as a team I was concerned about were the O-line, special teams, and DBs.
Special Teams has definitely upgraded. That unit cost us games and could've cost us more (Cowboys game). We are FAR better at corner thanks to free agency and the draft. We have mostly young guys with upside. Then there is O-line. It's more of a question mark, but they did add some picks.
We filled out some specific roles where if these players fill them, they will be more valuable than their draft slot. Example, if Gray catches 20 passes for 300 to 400 yards, that's a win, assuming Deebo, Aiyuk, and Jennings continues to ball, if Jackson can provide a good edge presence to make defenses pay for the focus on Bosa, etc.
Hoping this turns into a 1986 style draft where we have the key players for a few championship teams.

this draft shows why KS10 should attend the combine next time around.. he needs to learn some more instead of fantasizing what type of player he can use with his certain play design, then just take one for the heck of it.. he needs to learn to build a team..
I give this one a D+
Castro " Oil " Fields is very intruiging... he may end up being the BEST pick in this year's 49ers draft..

Waste of a pick in the 3rd and 7th on a rb and QB. Other than that the picks were decent. I give it a 7. It's better than most as far as picking for need except those 2 throw away picks above. Sadly this is better than lynch and shanny have done in the past.

I disagree. Its a soft 7.
Hard like Mayo or Hard like Deebo?
Soft like Pettis or soft like a kitten?

Voted 6/10. The Price (93), Womack (172) and Zakelj (187) picks are difficult to come around to, given who was still on the board.
The extra ding, if you will, comes from not consolidating from either this year or next and jump up in the draft. They decided to play a numbers game instead and see which ones stick. Watching the SL presser from last night, I don't think everyone in the room agreed with that approach.
In speaking about how many people are in other war rooms from Shanahan's tree, and the respective traits looked for in the system, there's a sense that more desired players were snapped up in front of us and we ended up with quasi consolation prizes.
Whelmed. 6/10.

We added a lot of back ups. I project two will get a lot of playing time and least 3 more added for depth on the roster.
Was expecting safety and natural center (not a project) in the 3rd/4th rounds. Drake and a lot of depth bumps it to B+ (7/10)

Seems to me that this was a good draft for the Niners to have a late start in. There seemed to be a real shortage of marquee names at the top but a lot of solid guys to be found throughout the later rounds. I don't follow college football at all but in reading up on the picks we made and the UDFA's we signed and checking out whatever highlights were available it would seem that there us a lot to like about this collection of players.
They all appear to be high character guys who look like the might have some dog in them and talk about their passion for the game and their desire to be good teammates. In other words the quintessential 49er in the Lynch/Shanahan era. Should be a lot of good battles in camp and a lot of guys to root for. Go Niners!

But add in the UDFA's and it feels like Shanalynch have already mapped out what they want with each player. And based on the linemen drafted... they are gonna run the ball nonstop with over the top PA passes. Allot of speed added.
There seemed to be players rated higher at the same positions outside of Drake but go back to any draft 2-3 years ago and look at the top 5s of every position... once you get past 10 it starts to become a crapshoot. Look at the top players in the league and then go redraft their years, things would look very different. So really all this is is an exercise in how close the team got to your own favorite players.
