I give this one a D+

Castro " Oil " Fields is very intruiging... he may end up being the BEST pick in this year's 49ers draft..

Lol

Dude is the comedian in this forum or what lol?

But add in the UDFA's and it feels like Shanalynch have already mapped out what they want with each player. And based on the linemen drafted... they are gonna run the ball nonstop with over the top PA passes. Allot of speed added.

There seemed to be players rated higher at the same positions outside of Drake but go back to any draft 2-3 years ago and look at the top 5s of every position... once you get past 10 it starts to become a crapshoot. Look at the top players in the league and then go redraft their years, things would look very different. So really all this is is an exercise in how close the team got to your own favorite players.

Special Teams has definitely upgraded. That unit cost us games and could've cost us more (Cowboys game). We are FAR better at corner thanks to free agency and the draft. We have mostly young guys with upside. Then there is O-line. It's more of a question mark, but they did add some picks.

We filled out some specific roles where if these players fill them, they will be more valuable than their draft slot. Example, if Gray catches 20 passes for 300 to 400 yards, that's a win, assuming Deebo, Aiyuk, and Jennings continues to ball, if Jackson can provide a good edge presence to make defenses pay for the focus on Bosa, etc.

Hoping this turns into a 1986 style draft where we have the key players for a few championship teams.

Agree, it does have that '86 feel to it. It was one of Walsh's best drafts ever. We shall see.

NC's breakdown

As to "grades?"

7 So, all in all, I'll mirror what Peters said; it's a depth draft with a couple difference makers that can really help this club. But that's unlikely to be this year with large snaps. But all of the roles they earn to play this year will be important, nonetheless. And their roles are clear. These picks are calculated to fit specific roles. I don't anticipate any of these UDFA's making a contribution this year but keep your eye on West and Poe. If Alex Mack does retire, both could realistically compete with Brunskill/Brendel next year, once they have the offense and pass protecting sets down. I only say they could compete next year because of the complexity of the offense and because Kyle typically leans towards veterans there. In addition, keep your eye on LB Jeremiah Gemmel as the 4th pure LB and S Leon O'Neal as the 5th S. Both have real shots here. Both would be immediate ST contributors.

I like your analysis. I'll just add that if the ground game will be as powerful as I think it will be, Gray might really shine in this offense with Trey's arm. As for all the OLinemen, I fully expect injuries to the OLine (specifically to Trent and Mack because of their age) and I think West, Poe, or Burford might have a big impact in the offense the way Elijah Mitchell did to the RB corps towards the latter half of the season and similar to the way Thomas, Hufanga, and Lenoir did. I think Brock Purdy is a better backup for Trey than Sudfeld from an athletic standpoint, and I think Brock makes the practice squad this year and beats out Sudfeld next year for QB #2. It's interesting that ShanaLynch didn't invest any draft capital in the linebacker position - and really concentrated on the edge position and the defensive back position. I think Kyle anticipates getting a lead on a lot of teams this season and running them to the ground in the 4th QTR. That, and him probably trying to anticipate injuries and building depth in those injury prone areas.

stop kissing Gore's ass in public.. you do that enough behind the forum..
Let you know in a few years.
7 otut of 10 on potential.

If Drake lights it up and one of the rookies starts on the Oline it will get a better grade
Thought I would revive this one to state the following: Although it takes three years to really judge a draft, and I still believe in that timeline, I also suspect that the 2022 draft will probably go down as one of the best ever in San Francisco 49er history.

Time will tell. But this draft keeps getting better and better and better with each passing day.
If you look at 2020, I think I would give it a 7. Javon Kinlaw, Brandon Aiyuk, Colton McKivitz, Charlie Woerner, Jauan Jennings
Kinlaw is a disappointment mainly injury-related. Aiyuk plays like a first rounder. McKivitz & Woerner are what was expected, solid backups. Jennings has been a pleasant surprise.

Depends one 1) do you include Lance in the calculus, and 2) if so, will Lance end up being a FQB. If it's yes to both, then it's either 9/10 or 10/10. If it's yes/no, then it's max a 4/10 or 5/10. If it's no to the first question, it's a 6-8/10 due to value of picks when we were selecting.

How do you include Lance in a draft he was not even drafted in? You count Lance 2 years in a row in drafts? That makes no sense.

He hasn't shown anything anyway.
