They were wrong. They did play it wrong. No fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on who you are) events change those simple facts. They miscalculated. Full stop.

I don't know why people are so afraid of making mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. Take your lumps and move on. You don't hold on to a bad hand to save face. That's how you go broke.

The only plausible scenario where JG remains a 49er, and I have said this dozens of times, is if the team does not feel Lance will be ready. That, in and of itself, is a massive problem. Even the mere suggestion of this possibility suggests the 49ers made a massive mistake / wasted draft capital. I don't think they did, but if JG remains, he is remaining on the team to start, not be the backup.

Its a concern of mine. I know I pushed for Jimmy to start Last year, but in the back of my mind i was actually hoping this great talent would unseat jimmy amd take over. It didn't happen, and I was disappointed.

Last season, it was Jimmy's job to lose. Experience trumped over raw talent. This season, its Trey's job to lose. Experience won't save Jimmy this time.
