Former Jets' and Bills' TE Tyler Kroft reached agreement on. A one-year deal with the SF 49ers, per his agent @MikeMcCartney7.

You can never have too many running blocking TE's???
363 snaps...similar to Charlie Woerner as a run blocker.
Seems redundant.

Got a yr in the scheme in NY under Saleh and Co. over half those snaps were as a receiver according to PFF. No idea what his numbers were with the Bills as far as running routes/per snap. I know his last yr in Cinn he was used in the passing game as well.
SF needs bodies at TE through OTAs/TC. I'm guessing this is one of those post 51 signings where he won't count much (if at all) against the cap.

He had 16 catches for 173 yards last year. Hardly a pass catching target. But maybe they see more potential there. No issues with the pickup. I think we're OK on camp bodies now.
TE: George Kittle; Charlie Woerner, Ross Dwelley, Jordan Matthews, Tanner Hudson, Troy Fumagalli & Tyler Kroft

It seems odd to me to have so many camp fodders. I guess they truly want Woerner to claim the number 2 and he has 5 competitors now. I personally have a fondness for Troy Fumagali ove rDwelley

Is this guy a highly rated run blocker?
I think these two recent TE signings are a sign they aren't content with either Dwelley or Woerner. Or perhaps they want Kittle playing zero snaps in the preseason.

Or, they're gonna go crazy with running the ball this season.

I have to think either Matthews or Hudson get cut to make room, neither have a chance of making the team IMO.

I don't know much about him but I found something written on him a year ago. These numbers do not include this past season obviously but yeah he seems to be primarily a blocker with some receiving ability

My opinion is that this move is more about competition for the third tight end spot on the roster. Woerner showed a ton of growth from year 1 to year 2 as a blocker and put together a really nice season from that standpoint. I think he's probably still locked into that number 2 spot

Yeah, can't see them bringing 7 TEs into camp, and going lighter somewhere else.
