I'm confident we won't be seeing that again this season lol . Lance should be better prepared this year and I doubt Kyle wants his franchise running again like he did against the Cardinals

I am not.

"Trey's got more horsepower inside of him than I think he even knows of."

One of the reasons we drafted Trey is because he gives Shanahan a numbers advantage in the run game. I hope Trey has learned how to protect himself because I do not see the RPO's going away anytime soon. This offense will look more like the 2012 Redskins offense than it does the 2019 49ers or 2016 Falcons offenses.

Damn.

Not necessarily a bad thing. Washington was 4th in ppg and 5th in ypg. The one thing the 2012 Washington team was missing was a defense and the 49ers have the potential to be a top 5 unit this seaaon.

It came with a price though. Plus it's boring. LOL

That is why I hope Trey has learned how to protect himself. RGIII never did and it cost him big time. I am not sure why that type of offense is boring, especially since it put them in the top 5 for scoring and yards with a lot of explosive plays to boot.

For sure...and not diving on the backs of OL's legs. LOL

We're already going to be a run-centric team so picturing Trey running up in between the T's too for 3-6 yards also is boring.

The explosives will be nice though!

Trey won't be running between the tackles. He will either hand it off or keep it and run outside the tackles. I think you are mistaking the 2020 Ravens and 2012 Redskins offenses. LOL

For what it's worth, the 2012 Washington O line was ranked 15th in pass blocking and 19th in run blocking.

There have been plays, broken down in videos, that call for Lance to run it between the tackles if it's a light box and the WR bubble screen is defended. I think it will continue to be a part of the playbook because that's where the numbers advantage presents itself due to the defensive alignment. As long as Lance doesn't truck LBs or downhill safeties, I am okay with it. Once a few 8 yard runs are put on film, it will give defenses conflict with their assignments and can lead to other, less dangerous plays.

Are you using Football Outsiders or PFF?

Good to know. I anticipate this line to be in a similar position by seasons end. That would be a great first year baseline with so many personnel, scheme and coaching changes.

I'm keeping an eye on who the personnel is at IOL (well, RG mostly) as that skill set might give us some insight on Trey running a little more inside.

I am guessing you prefer football outsiders?

Can any O line grading system be taken with more than a grain of salt though? There really isn't much statistical data to build rankings off of.

I've found FO a "tad" better in that they also break down where runs go and more details but to your point, no, unfortunately, these two are about as good as it gets. Neither take into account unit pass protection (RB, TE, FB, etc.) and that's critical (ask Steve Young and Matt Ryan). To your other points, rankings are pretty rough unless you are an all-OL, all-the-time type of evaluator. I've only found one of those on Twitter.
So we are still in here talking about QBs running and getting hurt more than pocket passers in spite of there being zero evidence that QBs who run a lot get injured at a higher rate huh?

Is that what we were discussing?
