Been a fan since 58. Lots of ups and downs in that time. The glory years in the eighties were the dream time. Lucky to have been there to witness those games, espically after slogging our way through the seventies. (thank you John Brodie for giving us a little light). It is really a lucky year when it all comes together and those times are few and far between, excluding TB and the Pats run. Every year is the first year. Here we go! Niners baby!!!

Blame Kyle and the 2012 weak ass defense for this drought.

I could be wrong but I believe the team has not won a championship since they used to have trading camp in Rocklin, at Sierra College. I was lucky enough to stand close to the sidelines and see some of those great players at a few of their practices in full pads, in 100 degree weather.
Good memories.
Good memories.

I was born in 96 so growing up we were a really bad team. That's why Frank Gore and Patrick Willis are my favorite players of all time. They gave me so much to look forward to while my friends were Patriots, Colts and whatever team was back then.

I grew up watching the 80s dynasty. Nothing will ever compare.
I blame York and parage, and also the fans who are content with mediocrity.

The last 28 years makes the 14 before even sweeter and I feel for younger fans that don't know what it feels like to watch our niners win it all.
That being said, I feel that things are shifting and we are entering a new era that will bring multiple championships in the next 10 years.
10,000 days - what a milestone. Tomorrow is day 1 towards leaving that era behind us. GO NINERS!!
Great post, think this is a great thread that puts things into perspective of what it has been like for fans who were born after 1/29/1995 or were too young to remember.
But level with me here. How long was your countdown before you could start this thread?

After we lost the NFC Championship I started looking into it and figured out that were close to 10K.

I.m a Niners fan first but I love the Giants and Warriors as well. If those 2 teams hadn't won 7 titles since 2010 I'd be hurting even more. Still I agree that it's time for the 49ers to get over the hump and win another SB. I don't expect them to ever match the excellence they reached in the 80s. Rules are different now and you can't stockpile players like you could then.
The Warriors have now won 4 titles in 8 years and reached the finals in 2 others. They have surpassed what those great Niner teams did in the 80's. (4 titles in 9 seasons). They may never be able to reach those heights again but they have something to shoot for. Players from different sports watch other teams and often go to games involving the local teams. They know some of these guys too. Let's hope the Ws recent success can rub off on ther Niners.

I don't think the defense is to blame… that's kind of a stupid statement
