Good point with the referee factor. With a duration like 10,000 days you can't blame a lack of a championship solely on that but man have we been unlucky at critical moments (bosa hold against KC another one).

Great teams overcome that stuff. The Niners aren't the only team that has had critical injuries or bad calls in all those years.

Agreed. 9 times out of 10, It comes down to coaching. Time to put these excuses aside and start winning some super bowls again.

I know it's a different sport but the Warriors suffered devastating injuries to Klay Thompson, Curry and Green. They fell to the very bottom of the league. Then their #1 pick got injured and missed all of the 2021-2022 season. They didn't cry or panic. They went to work and figured out a way to win.

It's the difference between a truly great player and an average player. There are a lot of average players and a decent amount of good players but there a very few really great players. Guys that put the team on their back when needed or make others around them better. This isn't a knock on Jimmy but he's not in Steph's class. Anyone that plays a pro sport has proved that they are better than those of us sitting at home. They've accomplished what most of us only dream of. When you rise to the level of Steph or Joe Montana or Kareem you are on a level that sets you apart from the mere mortals.

I know yeah. That's why we have no excuses moving forward, right?. Upgraded the weakness link. We should be ready to start winning super bowls?

Bruh, I ain't scurred. Let's get to work.
We'd have kept winning if Bill Walsh hadn't out smarted himself and quit.

Just goes to show you in the long run, it's all about the head coach and personnel management. The ball aint round, so you can't bet on a single year, but good management will take care of everyting else and give you shots most years.

There Is an advantage having a qb on a rookie deal. Now is an opportunity. I don't agree we should write it off and wait for Lance to be more experiened and taking a $50m bite out of the cap. Coach him up, have him play within himself, and let's go get VI.

Blame Kyle and the 2012 weak ass defense for this drought.

I don't think the defense is to blame… that's kind of a stupid statement

No it's not. You don't give up 27 points in the super bowl and expect to win.

we would have kept winning while Dallas continue to be sorry had Bill did not convinced Eddie to stay w/Seifert ... George was on his way to Cleveland for an interview..

Eddie wanted to bring in Jimmy Johnson !!!

This. We attempted to upgrade. I think we may have. But Trey still has to prove it when the bullets start flying. I think initially he will be fine. It will be interesting to see how he looks in November and December when defensive coordinators have half a year's worth of tape on Trey. Worse case scenario, he's average. The real test will be in the big moments and against the better teams.

We also could have drafted better. Our drafting in the 90s sucked overall. We had a brain drain and talent drain. Then there's that trading Charles Haley to the Cowboys thing.

I blame York and parage, and also the fans who are content with mediocrity.

Blame yourself for not understanding how special and unusual the Montana-Young era was. Then realize than very few fanbases got to see their team win as much as we did. It's not easy, even when you have a great team, there's always luck and pure chance involved. A lot that is out of control of anyone directly involved plays into winning it all. The best you can expect is to be in the handful of teams in the mix.
